I suspect ST V is going to sell out in short time.

I think within 7 days, Strek Trek fans, Goldsmith fans, film music fans everyone wants this one except maybe Henry.

Hi RM buddy!smileActually Goldsmith's STAR TREK scores are the only Goldsmith scores I'm interested in, but I'm strapped for cash so I'm just getting HOME ALONE tomorrow.

I think it may go faster than 7 days.

Am I going to have to order these from work at 4pm EST tomorrow?

I know Predator and Spacecamp were 24 hours sell-outs, but:
1. They were both 3000 units. ST V is 5000.
2. They still took a full day to sell out.
3. Intrada has been around longer.
4. Predator and Spacecamp were available, but in extremely limited form. ST V has been around with a bunch more copies made, albeit in a shorter form.

A sell-out may happen, but if it does, I give any title here a week minimum. But that's just my own opinionated guess.

Heh, thanks. I feel a little better. I just need to know how fast I need to drive home from work.

And always remember that 99% of the time, even if it's sold out from the label, other retailers will still have copies.

I don't think any title has generated this much excitement in a Very long time as in "Star Trek V"

I fail to understand one wanting "Home Alone" over a major Goldsmith. Oh well. to each their own as the old cliche goes.

Man with Star Trek 5 being released this has made my year. I was hoping too that sometime or another one of the labels would release Home Alone's complete score is a nice addition. I don't mind Hook not being with this batch, I guess it's a matter of time. smile

Star Trek 5's complete score is one I've been wanting for a very long time....I can't wait! smile

Remember, the 20th Anniversary of Home Alone comes before the 20th Anniversary of Hook. wink

No - the Varese Home Alone 2 Deluxe Edition was released back in 2002. It sat there on their shelves until last year. I recall this very clearly, because I picked up a copy before the run was depleted. I was never around here and I never knew the specialty labels existed until around late 2007.

My mistake. That's odd. I think I recalled Christian Clemmensen mentioning the Deluxe Edition selling out pretty quickly in his review of it. Indeed, he said:

"The 2002 Varèse Sarabande album is a 2-CD set is a 'Limited Collector's Edition' of 3,000 copies and was available only through the label's site or through online soundtrack specialty outlets. It sold out within a year."

Again, my apologies. Makes me kinda sad that I didn't realize this, as I became a "serious" collector in late 2007, believe it or not. razz Could've gotten it for a little cheaper, but $40 still ain't bad.

I love Williams! His HOME ALONE received Oscar nominations for score AND song, I love both. The song has become a Holiday classic. I like the STAR TREK V score, maybe my favorite Goldsmith, but for me Williams comes before Goldsmith.

Simply put, I enjoy it more. The first two films were a staple of my childhood, and the music has always been, and shall always be, my frien - um, enormously affecting. razz And, like Henry, I generally enjoy Williams' music more than Goldsmith's. Add to this the facts that Home Alone is cheaper (I'm currently trying to budget) and there's a smaller quantity available, and it's a no brainer for me.

It's simple, Home Alone is a better score. IMO.
