Lok, still waiting to hear what your cryptic gripe was all about?
Yep, I would like to know this, too. Seems that Lokutus made something, for which he accuses other labels (especially Varèse) again and again and again, but he himself is not able to admit it: an error.
Is the album version of 'Finally Home' a different piece of music originally written for the sequence or just an album edit?
It's a different piece of music. Different arrangement and orchestration. Not sure if it was ever intended for the film (different cut) or if it was recorded soecifically for the album.

Confirmed, this is a stage noise that happened. It obviously didn't bother Jerry Goldsmith the composer of this movie so it has stayed in this newer expanded edition. Noises like this add to the realism of the recording. There are tracks of stage noise that composers sometimes use to add realism to sampled and synth scores.
I love this release and score! I’ve been wanting the rendition of the lullaby that plays where Eleanor ascends to heaven with the souls of the children for ages! It’s little things like that which get left out on regular releases that make me grateful for the release of these Deluxe Editions.
I just realized Goldsmith is using what I like to call his “threshold” music for the main Haunting theme. Much like the v’ger music from TMP or “It knows what scares you” from Poltergeist. It’s that same mysterious, spectral harp-heavy thing going on. Man, I really love that sound. Just play “Theme from The Haunting” and “The Cloud” back to back and you’ll hear it. So awesome.

I could almost believe this was the music to Poltergeist III had Goldsmith been involved. No wonder so many people were taken in by thouse rumours started years ago.
It wasn’t true but it made for a damn believable rumour when you compare his great work on the first two films to this one. They literally all flow brilliantly as an unofficial Poltergeist trilogy of music.

And finally the unofficial Poltergeist trilogy is officially complete!
I never understood why people fell for that rumor. If he was going to score part 3 (which he most definitely was not ever involved) then he would have used the damn Carol-Anne theme from the other films!
The logic baffles me, whoever started that silly rumor.
