Since picking up the album at the recent Brian Tyler panel+CD signing, I've been really impressed with this score and greatly enjoying. His theme for Nick is really catchy, a fun, straight-faced adventure melody. Interesting to learn from the panel that this was not his original theme for the character of Nick. Tyler talked about an earlier theme that stayed in the score for months, prior to some recording dates when he struck upon a thematic idea he liked better. He then subsequently had to re-write multiple cues in order to work in this new theme for Nick, in a crunch time leading up to the sessions.
Saw the film last night. What a mess. Clearly didn't know what it wanted to be. At times, going for a dark fright-fest, with jump scares and nods to AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON & LIFEFORCE, but other times wanting to spoof and goof even more than the Brendan Fraser MUMMY films! And then to London and a whole VAN HELSING/AVENGERS style secret monster agency! None of it worked for me. Cruise gurning and goofing most of the time was embarrassing (and I don't usually mind Cruise). His giggling 'that it tickles' during the Mummy girl atop him with the knife scene was a new low. Universal have got their work cut-out to rescue this franchise, which is DOA for me. The score huffed and puffed but just gave me a headache in the long run. The film didn't help.

But this digipack is great - it's not tiny LP-sleeve.
But, I have a problem with digipacks. The few that I owned, the plastic teeth broke out, or the cardboard was damaged, then I had to cut the art work to fit into a jewel case, so now I just do not buy anything that is not released in a jewel case. Yes, please don't tell me it is about the music, I know that, but I want the music protected and digipacks do not do that!

Maybe you should be more gentle with them if you are having that many issues. I have somewhere north of 50 digipaks, and not a single one is broken... Digipaks DO protect the music.

Most of the ones I owned were broken before they arrived to me in the mail. The last one I ordered, Amazon refunded my money after they sent 3 copies to me that were all bent up/broken plastic tray via the USPS. If I was so rough on the holders, why do I not complain about the jewel case holders? Yes, I have had to replace quite a few jewel cases, but if the cardboard of a digipack is bent or the tray is broken/cracked you are done because art design is destroyed.

I'm not a fan of the digipack at all, but as mentioned above I've never had a problem with the trays/hubs broken. We've all had standard jewel cases arrive crunched to hell, and now that the lighter plastic case seems to be the preferred choice, broken hubs are almost the norm these days.
