Here is a very good review I found online, I agree with many parts of it. Quite in depth and not so short...

I'm not sure I'd agree that it's a "good" review. I don't mind if someone has cogent, intelligent opinions that support a supposition contrary to mine. But if a "reviewer" refers to Bush's musical associates as "dickheads" (some of them legendary, I might add), then the sound you just heard was that reviewer's credibility flushing down the loo. Unfortunate.

However, like you, I found myself in agreement with some parts of the review. In my case I call it a statistical coincidence.

We understood it differently then. IMO he used those musicians (never liked Prince or Mr. Clapton myself) to point out how drawn to the past she were at that point. Which makes sense since she herself admitted not being herself at that time. Her mum had passed away, her longterm relationship broke down (and she continues to work with him to this day)... I would have been drawn to the past too.

I mean, the overproduction on "Constellation of the Heart" by Prince was hideous. And since the reviewer speculates of what would have been had she released "Director´s Cut" in 1996 or so he was correct to say that Prince for example had reached his zenith - all watched from that point in time as reference. I´d disagree on Clapton however, he had a huge hit with "From the Cradle" in 1994.

I found "lagery zenith" especially funny. big grin

Just a small note: Prince worked on "Why Should I Love You", not "Constellation". To be honest, I think he did a good job. I've heard the original and think it just sort of lags in the middle whereas his version grooves. Just my opinion. Have you heard his other collabo with her, "My Computer" ? It's on his 1996 album EMANCIPATION and features Kate on backup vocals. Interesting song and I wonder if she saw it as a reply to "Deeper Understanding" since it's also about computer usage. Definitely a product of the times, it even has the AOL voice saying "You've Got Mail" and "Goodbye".

Cheers!
Harry

All Kate's stuff has been remastered and released in CD and LP sets and individually. She's back - again!

There are a few questions about the LP pressing and the completeness of the sets. I feel the same way about this as I did about the Jerry Goldsmith Box set from donkey's years ago. Even as a mega-fan, it doesn't quite jingle my bells.

I've got all her stuff including This Woman's Work on LP and CD anyway.

I tend to agree - I won't be buying the new versions - but the main thing is to be talking about her again!
