The Deluxe Edition banner is printed on the inside of the back tray card and you can see it with the case closed. There are no manufacturing errors

The Deluxe Edition I've received does not have the red banner on the left side of the cover, as shown below. Rather, it is an exact replica of the old cover, with nothing at all to distinguish one cover from the other. Is this a production error?

Yes, I really hated the change of this important detail on this album and on Wild Wild West Deluxe Edition.
As pointed above, it should distinguish one edition from the other, especially when using the exactly same image.
Varese's new owners still can't get there are already established specific line designs which must not be changed.
Still, maybe not so awful as the lettering on Dolores Claiborne.

I was a little late in ordering, but my copy is on it's way! Here's hoping we get deluxe versions of the other two scores. Between this and Solo Expanded we're having a Powell Christmas.

The DE tag is along the clear area on the left side of the tray. We will be doing this going forward. We did this for a number of reasons. As for cover art, we do try to suggest alternatives to the studios. They are the final say and for this one, they wanted the status quo on the cover.

No, it's not a production error. The Deluxe Edition of Village of the Damned doesn't have the banner on the booklet either.

That is for the website to show that this is a Deluxe Edition. Going forward the Deluxe Edition tag will be in the clear window space on the inlay card.

I dare to ask... And you decided to do this because...?? Why altering the established line design?

Why is this such a big deal?

I have been listening to this new release a few times since I got it earlier this week and I have to say the new mix is glorious and brings it closer to the sound of HTTYD2. For anyone on the fence, this is worth the upgrade. I can't speak to the new music because I never got hooked on this score as much as the follow-up releases.

Well, they themselves thought it was a big enough deal to add the DE banner to the announcement version of the cover, clearly deciding it needed differentiation from the old design.
It's all very well putting the DE banner on the insert sheet instead, but the insert sheet is not going to be seen on iTunes or Spotify or Qobuz or Amazon or in CD reviews or anywhere else the cover appears on its own. So in those circumstances, the new product is 100% visually indistinguishable from the old.

I decided nothing. It was a group decision, we all discussed it and came up with this way of designing them going forward.

Sorry if you are unhappy, that is never the intent. It's an aesthetic change I honestly do not want to go into here. There are real reasons why changes have come.

Though I would certainly prefer new artwork for Deluxe editions I really like the new trend of putting the Deluxe edition logo on the spine and keeping the cover itself clean.

I’ve been really loving the increased output and more varied club releases in the last couple of years so please count me as a very satisfied customer with the way things have been going!

Anybody have any issue with getting two of the same CDs? For starters, this got lost in transit and just arrived yesterday and then I opened it up to find both CDs being disc 2 and missing disc 1. Contacted Naxos and I haven't heard anything back yet.

Had that issue with Dracula--they did replace the entire set at no charge eventually but they are not the best at responding right away. Best of luck.

I just checked mine and got disc 1 and disc 2. Whew! I should add, I ordered mine from Movie Music.
