Is this the longest football FSM thread ever? 3593 posts?

Whatever, it's history now, and let it remain so, apart from the occasional smug bump from our scouse cousins wink

It even beats the infamous LLL Star Trek thread by 1000 posts - and it took seven years to get there! Amateurs...

While I applaud and enthusiastically cheer Pewl's SIXTH European Cup/Champions League/Super Bowl triumph, I doubt I could watch the entirety of that match anytime soon. However, a sixth cup is a sixth cup.

I've never seen so much as the highlights of the 2007 CL Final, in which AC Milan--a once-great club--got a measure of revenge for their epic 2005 collapse.

Liverpool deserved to win that game from what i remember.

Upon further reflection, I think I may have seen the highlights. Dirk whatisname scored a late consolation goal for Liverpool after Ortegui or whatever the Italian guy's name was, scored two homely, poachy goals, yet he wasn't even good enough to start on Italy's 2006 World Cup-winning team...talk about a "Golden Generation", that Italian team was definitely one.

Somehow Rangers are interested in Bolton 7 goal top scorer Josh Magennis. He scored 4 in 8 then 3 in about 36 games. No one Will miss him but he's a hard worker. A hard working non scoring type in a hoofball team. Doesn't sound like Rangers.

These Bolton updates are like being informed about one's always-near-death relative who never has the sense to actually die.

Oh for flips sake!!!

LADY BRACKNELL: Well, I must say, Algernon, that I think it is high time that Mr. Bunbury made up his mind whether he was going to live or die. This shilly-shallying with the question is absurd.

Bolton's had more "heart attacks" than Fred Sanford! (look him up, xebec; it's yet another yank rip off a UK sitcom)

Oh, and while I'm here:

Thomas, being from Norn Iron (the land that gave us Give My Head Peace), do your kids call you "Da"?

Indeed it is. I'm most likely the *only* yank who watches Give My Head Peace, The Blame Game, Republic of Telly and who also listens to A Perforated Ulster. I find the experience to be highly informative, not to mention frequently hilarious.

Keeping things toward footie, the shows often bang on about the Celtic-Rangers rivalry and the sectarianism that goes with it.

Cliftonville didn't win the Irish Cup again this year. frown

Haven't won the damn thing since 1979, I'm starting to resign myself to never seeing us win it againmad

That's generally true about the Celtic/Rangers thing here. You're born on one side and either support or "sympathise" with whichever one. Just the way things are. Oblic can tell you about it as well.

I'm a fan of Tim like you are, but those shows are dire. Most attempts at comedy shows from NI are lamentable. Even that more recent Derry Girls which is very popular is way overrated, though it's a masterpiece compared to Give My Head Peace.

Bolton's worst point was when the high court judge had to choose between administration and liquidation. Administration won out, so they should be through the worst of it. Despite the points being deducted next season, I cannot see them going down. They'll rebuild and be back in the Championship within five years, I have no doubt.

I'm looking forward to club stability and mid table mediocrity with some players I actually like and who actually try - even when they're being paid. I'd hope five years time we'd be Championship level again. I'd like a manager who wants to play football not dirgeball or hoofball.
