Henry, Portrait of a Serial Thread Starter.

Yeah... but they're good ones!

Have you taken a long unflinching look at his dark underbelly? Everyone has one. It's not pretty, I tell you. He's the kind of guy who would tweet "Fire!" in a crowded chat room.

Lol Last Child, that's hysterical!smile

You gotta ask him nicely. Bill can take the pundits, puns and gibes. He doesn't want a medal or a chest to pin it on. But you gotta ask him nicely.

I work in a grocery store, and some famous people shop there including baseball player Joe Mauer, football player Matt Birk and radio personality John Hines.

But have you met them? Alec Baldwin (Malice), Mel Gibson (Edge of Darkness), and Michael Caine (Cider House Rules) were in town making films, but of course I never met them. Btw, Caine rented a vhs tape from the local arthouse video store and didnt return it! They jokingly posted a "do not rent, bad customer" sign up about him.

Yes I've met them several times, they're all very nice. Comedian Louie Anderson was there once, but I was on break and missed him.

You led me on, Henry. It sounded like you only shared the same space at different times with them, rather than actually met them. This which would have qualified what "met" means for topic, so I could claim some virtual hobnobbing with aforementioned celebs. Instead I'm sliding back to the bottom of the chute. Crushed!

No chance. It took 3 days to explain Omar. Bored now.
Meet your own celebs.

Another story I'd forgotten about... I'm getting old fast.

I also worked at a Blockbuster Video near Universal Florida. One night just before closing Shaquille O'Neal came in and had the whole store to himself. Normally we got annoyed at last minute browsers, but he was joking around and really made our night. I was putting back a pile of maybe 20 tapes and he rushed me with a big theatrical karate kick which really caught me off guard; I didn't drop the tapes or anything but he and my coworkers got a good laugh out of it.

Another night Kenan and Kel came in and were amazed that we had Good Burger, and rented it to show their friend who hadn't seen it. Other notables I rang up included the DeLuis brothers and Jonathan Brandis. Good times at that job.

In the 1980s I was at my Doctor Who convention-going peak, so met lots of the stars (including all Doctors except William Hartnell, well he was dead!), writers, directors, producers and composers. But out of that lot the ones I had a drink and spent time with were Richard Franklin and John Levene (both 70s regulars), Debbie Watling (60s companion) and Matthew Waterhouse (80s companion). Was invited (by phone) to have dinner with third Doctor Jon Pertwee and 80s producer John Nathan Turner, but I was too many miles away and about to sit down for my own evening meal.

Also met quite a few from the 80s series Robin of Sherwood around the same sort of time, and chatted quite a bit to producer Esta Charkham and writer/creator Richard Carpenter.

Nowadays I smile every time I see my old mate, Jon Harris's name on the big screen, most recently on the credits of Yesterday. We were fellow Who fans in the 80s, and members of the Sheffield Amature Cine Club. It was just a hobby for me, but he obviously got the bug seriously and, as one of the UK's best film editors ended up working with the likes of Guy Ritchie and Danny Boyle. Last time we were in contact he emailed me daily when on location in Utah working on 127 Hours for which he was Academy Award nominated.

Not as old as me, apparently, since I have no clue who those "famous" people are.

Why not respond to my earlier post which debunked your criticisms? You'd rather repeat your complaints, and then blame us for responding negatively? You're getting the cause and effect reversed.
