My film music CD collection, of course, and the way I have arranged it!

Could you elaborate? We need to ascertain the degree of nerd-dom.

Well, we've had many threads on how we arrange our collections. For example, if you go to this thread from 2001:

http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=1785&forumID=1&archive=1

...and scroll down a bit to my January 5 response, you'll get the gist of it. It's 8 years ago, but with some minor changes, it's pretty much the same today.

Actually, Thor, just pointing people to your post above, with its link to a past answer, would be sufficient justification for nerd-acity.

The shelves at Intrada used to look a little like this but they simplified them later. You're way ahead of them, Joshy-poo.

Well... shelves of DVDs and Blu-Rays including Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek (films and TV shows), Babylon 5, Alien Quadrilogy, Buckaroo Banzai, Kubrick films, Planet of the Apes, Firefly/Serenity, etc. And I'm probably the only person in the state of Florida under 30 who owns the original Get Smart series.

A bookcase featuring such gems as The Stanley Kubrick Archives, several Star Trek novels (including the TNG and DS9 relaunches, the Titan series, the A Time To... series, the Terok Nor series, the Destiny Trilogy, the Mirror/Myriad Universe Anthologies, etc.), Battlestar Galactica episode guides, several trivia/reference books, biographies of Spielberg, Lucas, and Landis, making-of books (Indiana Jones, Star Wars, DS9, Firefly), etc.

And an iTunes library featuring the scores for the Star Trek and Star Wars films, the Superman Blue Box, the Indiana Jones set from Concord, the Alien films, the Batman films (save for The Dark Knight but including the Animated Series set from La-La Land), The 'Burbs, Capricorn One, Predator, Ghostbusters, etc.

You know, when Varese announced Short Circuit as part of their last Club selection, my first thought was, "Okay. This is the one. This is the one where people might start asking questions if they see it on my iPod." smile

I think when a person cannot point to just ONE thing lifts them into the realm of supernerd.

I bow humbly before you.

#1 - My name, which appears in the Star Trek Encyclopedia

#2 - The framed "2001: A Space Odyssey" poster in our sitting room which has been signed by Gary Lockwood and Keir Dullea

#3 - The Vertigo Encyclopedia, along with the complete Sandman collection with the original Dave McKean covers (selected titles also signed by Gaiman and McKean)

That's not including the various DVD sets, books, action figures and toys still in their packaging, etc etc.

Quite a few framed film posters on the wall, framed copies of (early) Famous Monsters Of Filmland & Spacemen magazines on the wall. Lots of soundtracks, lots of books. No interest in sport or cars.

A world full of nerds = world peace!

I bow humbly before you.

But that's the thing, isn't it? I couldn't point to just one thing so wouldn't that mean I'm not nerdy enough? The sum of the parts is greater than the whole or something like that. smile

antipodean - Where are you mentioned in the ST Encyclopedia? I was mentioned in the second volume of Phil Farrand's Nitpickers Guide for TNG Trekkers myself.

All the Sci-Fi movie posters, models and statues that line THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE; My entire wall of Benno cd towers lined with soundtracks, and a wall dedicated to Lucy and Desi. And another wall filled with autographs of celebrities.

Star Trek (the original) is one of the few series I actually enjoy watching. Sometimes I am fortunate enough to catch an episode on the tube. Bones is my favourite character big grin

Does the fact that I want this count?

smile

For me, the proof would be in the fact that i have four different movie posters for the same movie, Trancers. I have two that say Trancers, one that says Guardianes Del Futuro, and one that says Future Cop. I also have a killer Zone Troopers and several other Tim Thomerson film posters. Hehe, I just loved some of the films he was in. smile

I also have a Frank Black figure from the show Millennium.

You never mentioned you were British, Mrs. American Nightmare!

And I believe I recognize this famous depiction of the good doctor.

It's lifted from an ancient fresco entitled, "He's Dead, Jesus," in which McCoy administers the last rites to an unfortunate red-shirted crewman. Am I right?

(Naw, just kidding, I know it's from "Amok Time." You can tell even at this distance that his hypo's filled with tri-ox compound.)

Incidentally, since we're mentioning autographed items, I've got a color photo of Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas standing next to Michael Jackson, during the making of "Captain EO." All three are looking at the camera solemnly and saluting. It's mounted on a wooden plaque, which is autographed by Rick "Disco Duck" Dees. Saw it on eBay. Had to have it.

Now . . . I'm not sure.

Does that make me a nerd or . . . some other kind of thing entirely?

Looking around I see...a Davey and Goliath lunch box and Bobble Head set, some proudly-displayed Dark Shadows paperbacks (I actually read these and they're falling apart), a small replica of "Daniel Boone" as portrayed by Fess Parker (either that or it's a Davy Crockett -- it's got a coonskin cap and stands about four inches tall), a lot of advertising tins (some authentic, some replicas) an Orphan Annie Ovaltine cup, a copy of "Bonita Granville and the Mystery of Star Island," (wondering who Bonita Granville is? Check out the Cinema Bitches thread from a few months back!), some old fan magazines from the 1940s & 50s ("Stars Overcome By the Poision Gas of Gossip!") and Tyrone Power's autograph, framed. That's just what's in front of me. I don't dare turn around and check inventory.

But seriously, guys & gals...we're not nerds. We're Curators of Cool.

Happy New Year! smile

Oh, I am American! However, for as long as I can remember, I have spelled favourite with a "u", along with some other words, e.g. "colour." And "program" as "programme," etc. Perhaps it stems from my early interest in reading specific types of literature and seeing the words spelled as such. Hee Hee!

An ability to spell correctly doesn't make you a nerd Mrs.AN, it makes you a GIANT amongst pygmies. cool
