I'm generally positive-minded, but I also have melancholy tendencies - to the point where I feel like I'm the only person on the planet who has the sort of thoughts and moods that are perfectly defined here: https://www.dictionaryofobscuresorrows.com/ It's almost as though I created and wrote this website while I was sleepwalking or something. I'm not the only wool-gathering melancholic in the world!

I can say without shame that this stuff is RIGHT up my alley. Mine too. I love some of these neologisms: Morii: With every click of the shutter, you’re trying to press pause on your life. If only so you can feel a little more comfortable moving on living in a world stuck on play. Exulansis: n. the tendency to give up trying to talk about an experience because people are unable to relate to it—whether through envy or pity or simple foreignness—which allows it to drift away from the rest of your life story, until the memory itself feels out of place, almost mythical, wandering restlessly in the fog, no longer even looking for a place to land. Onism: n. the awareness of how little of the world you’ll experience Imagine standing in front of the departures screen at an airport, flickering over with strange place names like other people’s passwords, each representing one more thing you’ll never get to see before you die—and all because, as the arrow on the map helpfully points out, you are here.

These terms remind me of "Ozymandias Melancholia": "It's that sad and depressed feeling you get when you realize that no matter how great and majestic and important something is at the time, in time it's going to pass. Just like the poem ["Ozymandias", by Shelley] - eventually, time kills everything. It's just that rotting statue of Ozymandias, a once-great statue, and now a broken-down piece of marble in the desert. So you get a depressed feeling because it gives you a sense of the futility of life, that all that you're working for, and all the things that seem so meaningful, are nothing." ~Woody Allen Ozymandias Melancholia is mentioned in Stardust Memories and To Rome with Love. "Anhedonia."

"Prantensioness": When you realize you're not watching Paula Prentiss in a TV show or movie but her sister Ann.

"Cinelostus" When you are dead certain of a memory you have of a wonderful scene from a movie - but you can't remember the film, you have yet to come across it again, and you now start doubting that the scene ever existed in the first place.

"Wirewehere" That freakish moment when you become aware of all of the long whiskers and antennae branching out of your cat's face; or, similarly, when you are suddenly aware of all of the telephone wires making you feel like you're in a big cage when you're walking around outside.

I'll wait for the print version, which the website says is soon-to-come.

There's not a word in there for when you wake up at 4am & worry about the eternity of non existence after you die (for the non religious). Atheixiety?

"Aspectations" The frustration of seeing someone's TV playing a film with incorrect aspect ratio...and there's not a damned thing you can do to fix it.

They'll unknowingly benefit from better presentation quality and you'll be able to sleep well knowing you have improved a life while ever so slightly adjusting an imbalance in the universe.

True enough. But there are those times when that control is inaccessible. Arrrgggh!
