The theatrical cut was shorter and excised completely David Janssen's scenes since he'd died two years earlier (that's how long the film was on the shelf). The few TV airings it had restored his scenes.

Kudos to LLL on this long-overdue release, which I am enjoying a lot. It sounds to me like some old-style plate or room reverb was applied to the mixes in the 70s, and the brighter mastering has brought out the reverb a bit. Or it's possible a touch of reverb was added. Not a complaint, just wondering if anyone knows.

I am really looking forward to hearing this great release sometime next week!

You missed my point. For those who do not own a MQA capable gear, they get less than CD quality. Ding, ding, ding! If I play this cd on my standard player, I'm going to get LOWER quality than a standard cd?? Really? Deal breaker.

Just wanted to chime in. I can't say I am an expert about this stuff, I will say that right up front. But some thoughts: I invested in a Brennan B2 music player, about two years ago. 1000 GIG capacity. The thing is built like a little brick! You can rip CD's directly onto it, and it converts everything to FLAC. It's wi-fi capable, and it connects automatically to the most updated music libraries out there. It's essentially a Linux system, if I am not mistaken. It connects to my Bose with a fiber optic connection. Recent releases, such as the Intrada Young Sherlock Holmes, La La Land's Superman, and SO MANY others - well they sound absolutely superb! The clarity and depth of these mastering efforts is displayed amazingly on my speaker system. The B2 I own cannot handle MQA, but I wonder just how this new Swarm will sound. I personally am not interested in purchasing a brand new music player just to play this ONE release. I am very disappointed that the sound quality may suffer on a standard player. I feel like I may be missing out! I have read here that it may not be audibly different, but I wonder now. Let's hope that the majority rules here. I understand this was a choice, perhaps a business decision, but I personally don't relish the idea of future releases taking away our choices! (I would like to add that the SACD Great Train Robbery, played on a normal player, just doesn't cut it sound wise. The Quartet re-issue, on the other hand, sounds spectacular, and is a standard CD! Same for the Intrada release of this title from a few years ago.) -Rick O.

Mine will be shipping soon - I didn't pay attention to this MQA aspect before ordering... now I'm curious if I will notice a difference in sound. I usually get 24bit files whenever possible.
