INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM -- whole final sequence leading into end titles.

Jedi Steps and Finale is WAY up there

I love Jedi Steps and Finale ...BUT... the two things that would keep it off my personal list of BEST end titles ever would be (1) the repeat of Binary Sunset with the clunky extension that transitions into the iris-close of the end credits, and (2) I think JW actually stuffed TOO many of his mostly wonderful new themes into the piece. The Finale goes from:

Rey's Theme / Kylo Ren's Theme / Follow Me (The Falcon) / March of the Resistance / The Force Theme with Rey's Theme / Close

I get it... end titles have to be longer because of the army of FX personnel these days. But to me it resembles the Prisoner of Azkaban credit sequence -- they're both wonderful, but they also both feel to me more like a pops concert medley instead of a really tight closing sequence like Empire (which I also vote as the number one best sequence of all time).

I've read through all the titles and ....

no one has mentioned the end titles to The Abyss by Alan Silvestri.

So I'm making sure it's remembered, once again.

The Swarm (Jerry G)
unrelated to most of the score but incredible

One might think so, until one slowed down the melody in the ET and discovered it's NOT unrelated.

Shows how inventive JG could be!

I wish "The Epilogue" of THE FURY could have been the end titles. Then I could name it as a fave.

Lots of good ones here. I'll add "Nicaragua" from Under Fire by Goldmsith.

There needs to be a distinction between those long overture-style credits that predominate since the union regulations on long lists of crew etc., and earlier Finales proper, where the end title is an integral and resolving part of the film and music.

Two different animals, to be judged apart.

Wild bunch. With the boxed footage of them leaving angels village accompanied by Fielding's theme.

Alien. Partly because jerry's end theme was the first even remotely-gentle thing in the whole stark film.

But im still not clear if we are choosing noteworthy end credit music/visuals combos that add something to the conclusion of the film - or simply everybody's favourite end star wars music? I guess all bets are off as the OS doesnt appear to be around.

The former.

Hey Bill, the sleep pods opening to reveal the crew members (in ALIEN) is pretty sweet and soothing music that appears long before the End Credits.
Plus, we never get to hear Goldsmith's take on it, it's all that Howard Hanson garbage!!! wink

A personal favorite of mine is John Scott`s Lionheart. That End Title is definitely on the top of my list.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. Love the score and the closing credits.

Personally speaking - and despite already mentioning The Swarm - mine will always be JAWS (the quiet AFTER the storm).
So serene and gentle and calming.

I'm sure that this thread has been started, finished and done to death in the past, but....

The Empire Strikes Back - Finale?!!!

+1

I haven't had time to read all of the responses, but as soon as I read the subject line of this thread, the ESB end titles immediately came to mind as my 'instant answer'...

I'm confused. Are we talking about the finale (where Luke puts his arm around Leia) or the end credits (where the titles roll, starting with the same fanfare as A new hope)?

Equal to "The Empire Strikes Back" is "Confrontation with Count Dooku/Finale" from "Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones." Grandly romantic and tragic, clearly Williams had another movie playing in his mind.
