”When you used to tell me that you chase tornadoes, deep down I thought it was just a metaphor.” Twister (Expanded Archival Collection) - Mark Mancina
Jan De Bont’s disaster adventure was released in theaters 25 years ago today. The movie was a let down compared to De Bont’s exciting directorial debut Speed, but if you’re into these disaster type movies then it succeeds it’s goal. Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton did what they could to inject some depth to the story and their characters but De Bont’s main goal was to make the tornadoes and the damage it ensues look convincing. Mark Mancina’s score is able to keep up with the special effects and chaos onscreen while also adding enough emotional depth to the protagonists and their adventure.
