Don't know if it's been mentioned but the sample of the Main title music from Captain From Castile, sounds fantastic

It does! But then I already thought it sounded fantastic on the SAE release (and the rest of the score, even better). Is there anything that stands out about it sounding better than the SAE? I'm buying this set regardless; I'm just curious.

How much would shipping to the UK cost for this set?

Sometimes bad optical dupes were made of the actual film and you ended up with really poor sound for Captain from Castille and Prince of Foxes dvds.
the only way to remedy this is get original nitrate prints and lift the sound onto the vid.
Fox did this for the Twilight Time release of Captain from Castille.
But NOT for the kino blu of Prince of Foxes.

Glad to know this. I've been cautious about buying the CASTILE blu-ray due to the lousy audio on previous releases. My 16mm print has better audio than the DVD and VHS releases!

This looks like a fantastic set -- and I will be ordering it soon. Also, Mr. Kimmel, congratulations on raising 253% of your goal for the restoration and release of your film "The Creature Wasn't Nice." That deserves an exclamation point or two -- so !!!!! I contributed in a small way to that Indiegogo campaign -- can't wait to see the finished release!

We didn't raise the shipping cost for this one.

Appreciate the contribution. It was astounding to watch this campaign go up and up. I've done nine of these things, and we've been lucky on all but one to go OVER the funding goal, but the highest we've ever gotten is 134% on last year's A Carol Christmas campaign. This was in a whole other universe smile

How come the score to THE GUNFIGHTER only ran three minutes long?

Because there is no music in the film save for the incredible main title and end title music. We also include the trailer music, which is great. This has been on this board one of the most requested of all Fox scores - pretty funny when you think about it. There was no way we were not including it.

I just heard the sample! It's the River Pirates theme Newman reused in How the West Was Won, but packed with such incredible impact! Wow!

... There are people out there who never got ANY of these CDs - I believe there's one in this very thread. There is a world outside this board, hard as that may be to believe.

I'm one of those who has (almost) none of these so I will be happy to see this in my mailbox.

It's that" incredible impact" that makes it so memorable and ,for me at least, very different from anything in HTWWW.

And one thing regarding re-releases – in my opinion re-releases are very important because it is an opportunity for new music lovers (even if there are not many these days) to discover such soundtrack gems. The same happened to me back in the 80s. MCA records re-issued a lot of LPs from the 50s and 60s. Although mostly badly pressed I was really happy to obtain soundtracks I didn´t know they even existed.

A very wise reply and one with an important kernel of information: There are people out there who never got ANY of these CDs - I believe there's one in this very thread. There is a world outside this board, hard as that may be to believe.

(raises hand). Don't have any of these. None. Zip. Zilch. And I can't wait to get this set.

I'd been eyeing various after market sources for a copy of LIAMST recently- including considering dropping a fair amount on the copy that was briefly available in the Nick R collection at SAE.
So relieved now I let it slide. For the same price (maybe even less, can't fully recall) I can not only get that, but a few more treasures I likely never would have considered, as well.

And yes, there are a bunch of titles, from all periods, I've missed out on that I would love to see re-released in some form or fashion. Composers or properties I never really gave much thought to until I got deeper and deeper into this wonderful genre/hobby.

Wow what a fantastic-set & reasonably priced for such big movie/scores, I only own Prince of Foxes but that's fine-wine of Newman so my interest for the rest is overwhelming, just reading the COOL facts for other scores they sound lovely. Many thanks Kritzerland great-stuff your golden-ages #1.

I'm another one who has none of these scores as a separate CD entity and has recently been getting to really know and love the music of Alfred Newman through the many compilations I've managed to pick up recently.
I do own full scores to Greatest Story Ever Told and The Robe and HTWWW and this set looks like being an awesome addition to my newly growing collection.
I've also just noticed I've totted up 50 dollars to spend at Intrada, due to their loyalty bonus points thingy, so this would be almost a freebie, plus their policy of not charging extra postage on multi-disc sets is hard to beat for us strapped-up/stressed-out European customers smile

Talking of good fortune and all things Alfred Newman, I recently bought, in a charity shop for 50p!!!, a CD I'd never ever seen or even heard of.
A compilation from Citadel called Legendary Hollywood Alfred Newman conducts his classic motion picture scores.
Mint condition too. The previous owner obviously loved it very much.
There's obvious limitations in the sound due to the source of the recordings, but that just adds to the charm.

Fabulous release Bruce, well done! Like most posters I already have these scores but the prospect of the rejuvenated sound and PofF additions make this irresisible. Yavar, I'm thunderstruck that Newman being your favourite golden age composer you don't alread have Splendored Thing - it's so much more than the popular song. You are in for the biggest treat this year!

Oh I had it (the Varese Club release); I just never got around to upgrading to the Kritzerland before it sold out. I’m pretty sure I was a (more) poor student when it was released and I had to prioritize.
