Hi MV, Are there plans for additional Hanna Barbera releases? Perhaps your own volume of Tom and Jerry Scott Bradley scores? I sadly assume the released scores are the only ones that have survived, along with those "Carl Stalling Project" CD's. I don't mind. I find Tom's screams as fun to listen to as the music.

I seem to remember the discussion was that FSM started with the 50s because that material sounded the best. But my read at the time was that there was usable material that went further back. We've certainly had some great 40s releases in the years since. Edit: Yeah. Good point Schiffy.

Which, seriously, is one of the greatest cartoon scores of all time.

From the FSM Tom & Jerry Vol. 1 album page: "For this premiere CD, FSM has concentrated on Bradley's last period at M-G-M, the reason being that these offer the best sound quality. Nine cartoon scores survive in glorious stereo sound from the original 35mm three-track masters and have been supplemented with an additional 16 monaural cartoons from 17.5mm masters." And from Lukas's retrospective Low Quantities Report, Part 6: "Vol. 9, No. 17: Tom and Jerry & Tex Avery Too! Vol. 1: The 1950s (Scott Bradley): We have made all 3000 copies of the limited edition and have 343 in stock. Our artwork has run out so this will be the end of the run. This was a major undertaking, the goal being to do for Scott Bradley what was done for Carl Stalling in the 1990s. When I was a kid, the local channel 10 showed a half-hour of Tom and Jerry cartoons at 3PM—perfect for afterschool viewing—followed by Scooby-Doo. Later I discovered the Tex Avery shorts, which still impress long after Tom and Jerry's antics have become formulaic to watch as an adult. The previous Scott Bradley CD by Milan in the 1990s was so disappointing, but as I discovered, working with this material is not easy: there were dozens of cartoon scores preserved from the 1950s, but the 1940s scores (not included on this album) are mostly still on their original optical film. We decided to punt on those—I hope another label picks them up, as my favorite we did transfer and restore (“Mouse in Manhattan,” based on the song “Manhattan Serenade”)—and pick the best of the 1950s scores, including several in true three-track stereo (glorious!). Curiously, many of the main titles were missing—others appeared to be done in groups, several cartoons at once—and it was a jigsaw puzzle locating cues for different cartoons spread across a number of DA88s created in the 1990s. Incidentally, the cartoon scores have no component cue titles—just part 1, part 2, etc. until the end. Each cartoon was typically six or seven or sometimes as many as ten or more cues, not to mention music/sound FX, overlays, etc. I had to use the music/effects track and sometimes the finished cartoon soundtrack to fill in a few gaps. It was a pleasure working with cartoon music expert Daniel Goldmark, who wrote the liner notes and recommended which shorts to use." http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/daily/article.cfm/articleID/6739/FSM-Catalog%E2%80%94Low-Quantities-Report-Part-6-CD-Vol.-9-2006/ So clearly there is more music out there that could be pursued if a label felt like it was worth their while. Mouse in Manhattan is the one I would like to see most as well. Really one of the best. https://youtu.be/o7Lq8fGfMIU Nice to be reminded it's already transferred and restored. Thanks Yavar.

I sadly missed out on that release, but I've seen the cartoons so many times I hear the screams and sound effects in my head even when hearing the music isolated. Hanna-Barbera/Avery also utilized Bradley's talents to his full potential to where the SFX/screams rarely obscured the music anyway.

Hey MV, after your brilliant "Braveheart"-release, is there any chance for more Horner releases, especially Avatar, Titanic & Wolf Totem? Definitely have some Horner in the works

As I'm sure a lot of people do, I greatly admire Julian Nott's scores for the Wallace and Gromit shorts. Is there a chance in hell that they could be released? Amazing stuff. Wouldn't know where to begin for rights

Hello MV... Any current plans to try to get any Brian Tyler releases off the ground? Nothing planned as of yet, but love working with Brian. I feel we released some of his most unique scores back in the day. So happy for his continued success. A genuinely sweet guy. MV
