Disneys Star Wars- Female lead Episodes 7, 8, and presumably 9 have a female lead, but you are ignoring that Episodes 1-6 and Solo are all very male driven as is the upcoming Mandalorian show, and we have no idea what the subsequent films will look like. Rouge One- Female lead Jyn Erso was the only female member of the group that came together, and it was her and 100 men that went to Scarif to obtain the plans. Jyn wasn't even the leader of the mission, Cassian Andor was. Plus, this film has spun off a male driven tv show. Star Trek Discovery- Female lead Prometheus (Alien)- Female lead Haven't seen these, so I can't comment Ghostbusters- All female team For one movie out of three made so far. Have you seen the cast of the next Ghostbusters? It has both males and females playing Ghostbusters. Oceans whatever- All female team One movie versus three male driven movies. Terminator whatever- All female leads I gave up on this series years ago, so I can't comment. A Force- All female Avengers team Are you talking about the long since cancelled comic book series being published when there were like 50 other Avengers comics with teams that were mostly male being published? Or the twenty second scene during a half hour action sequence from Avengers Endgame? Otherwise, I haven't heard of anything being announced. Masters of the Universe- Female lead I was never much of a fan, so I haven't been following this. Captain Marvel- Female (originally male) There have been at least a dozen Captain Marvels over the years, some male, some female. The current one has been in comics for over 40 years, and is popular with the fans. Most of them have been completely forgettable. Personally, I think she has earned the title. Also, the death of Mar-Vell was an incredibly powerful graphic novel, and probably the only noteworthy superhero who died in either the Marvel or DC Universes, and has actually stayed dead. Thor- Female (originally male) Chris Hemsworth is the lead of the film. Natalie Portman's Jane Foster will wield Mjolnir and gain the powers of Thor. Otherwise nothing more has been revealed about what will happen in this film. If the movie follows the comics, Jane Foster as Thor is temporary. Doctor Who- Female (originally male) Male for the past 12 regenerations. Who knows what will happen when Jodie Whittaker leaves the show. Gallifreyans can regenerate into either gender. 007- Female (originally male) Oh come on. Yes, that is how the film begins, but Bond is the star of the film. I know nothing more than the little snippets that have been revealed, but does anyone seriously believe that future Bond films won't feature James Bond as 007?

solium, looking over your list, I think you unfairly lumped different things into one under the guise of women leading science fiction/fantasty films; my reasonings: Rouge One- Female lead Why can't it be though? It's not like they took an established male character and made it female, or went out of their way to make a written male character female. Star Trek Discovery- Female lead Same as above. Prometheus (Alien)- Female lead Still same as above. Doctor Who- Female (originally male) The lead, even though male, changes and has been played by multiple actors. I'm not a who-er (or what ever it's called), so I don't know if there was an established reason for why it was a man every time, but if there wasn't, it's possible to have Who be a woman sometimes. And yes, I get that it was not for that reason, but shoving the current agenda down our throats.

Women have often been the leads of horror movies and romantic comedies so its not like there has ever been a drought of leading roles for women.Just look at the careers of the likes of Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore for example. Hollywood is pushing this narrative that women are only breaking out NOW just to cover up for the fact that Harvey Weinstein and the like got away with what they were doing for decades.Lets bear in mind though that a lot of these so called allegations have been proven to be false ( The mainstream media doesnt cover what happened to the likes of Honest Trailers co creator Andy Signore who proved his innocence ).

Lord god almighty — if it’s a topic about a movie with a female lead, we get the same three guys saying the same stuff that gets every thread they post in locked. Give it a rest, guys and stop ruining these threads for everyone else. The irony.
