The Goldsmith ST theme is not what I'm on about in this post. It's the absolutely heavenly piece that commences at the 1:10 mark. He's written some beauties, but "The Mountain" is one that I CAN listen to all day and it ends way too soon. It takes on an added transcendence for anyone else out there that loves camping as much as I do.
Take it away Mr. Goldsmith (and remember--it's the 1:10 to 3:21 mark):
"6 Years Later" by Thomas Newman from The Rapture is a cue that puts me instantly in a zen state and I could not live without it...love the whole score (and the film), but that cue is sublime, all 1 minute and 30 seconds of it.
I've never really been a 'cue lover', but more of an 'album lover'. I prefer to press play and let the album play out in full, with the track highlights appearing naturally. So I always have trouble answering queries like this.
I never tire of listening to Ecstasy Of Gold in almost any version from G,B,U.
Perfect piece of film music. No matter how many times I hear it I always feel during it that it's the best piece of film music (or of any category) ever. From the piano at the start to the very end. Just listening to it now from the link gave me goosebumps.
Seeing and hearing it performed by Ennio himself was a privilege I will never forget, being sat with Sergio Leone's biographer Chris Frayling and his wife for it was the icing on the cake.

The Thorian Non-sequitar
Yeah, that was a little funny. He seemed to miss the part of Zoob's OP that said "soundtrack" (inferring that's it's okay to include an entire album).
It's a rousing piece. Listen especially at the 0:43 mark. Up until then it is the Kong theme on the higher brass and strings, the drums and the chanting, but at that 0:43 point the low brass comes in and plays the Godzilla theme as the root notes. On the hi-fi that bass is so strong that your ears say "Holy crap, where'd THAT come from?". What a great opener for the movie.
The Toho CD is fantastic, but the LLL is slightly better.

These are the soundtracks I've played the most this year.
The Barry is wonderfully kitschy, catchy and so brief that it's great pick-me-up just about any time I put it on.
In the case of the Delerue, I was initially forcing myself to play it every few days for a while because I was feeling guilty that it was another one of those impulse additions to an already large order that I really didn't need. I had to force myself to play it a bunch of times just to justify the purchase. At some point that morphed into a genuine affection for it and now I find myself playing it often as an all-purpose go to.
In regards to the Abril, this was another impulse purchase added to an already large order that I initially regretted. In fact, on my first listen I didn't like it at all. But I forced myself to put it on as background noise a few more times and voila. I love it now. One of my most satisfying purchases from the last year.
The Doyle score might be favorite though. This one really knocked me for a loop. Selections from it get tossed into a lot of different playlists for when I multi-task. No matter how deeply I'm involved in something else, this music triggers me and I usually have to pause and soak it in. I initially purchased the download, and then loved it so much I popped for a used CD just to squeeze a scintilla more quality out of it. I treasure all these, but this one in particular has risen to my short list of all time faves.
This did not start out as a film cue. But Edgar Froese sprinkled a new intro onto a section of "Force Majeure" and, voila, an amazing bit to underscore Joel's first steps to manhood. You don't often find a blending of music and visuals as perfect as this. I actually like this version better than the longer piece it was excerpted from. I wish this version had gone on for 10 more minutes.
I reckon the person who made this video showed as much as they dared! LOL
The actual OST is excellent, as is "Force Majeure".
Let's just say "Who Dares Wins" is highly addictive from start too finish, Love Welsh Mountains, Jenny's Theme & Jenny's Theme I, those themes are really-really romantic very emotional paced as they play-out, great score it is.
You can tell from how much I post on any given day just how much I'm procrastinating about some mundane household chore that I'm taking forever to do. Time to go and finish sorting through last month's receipts. Ugh.
I listened to it so many and it reminds me of when I was learning to play odd time signatures. I particularly love the bridge section that begins around 1:20 with the hint of strings in the background and the snazzy brass. It reminds me of the bridge from another personal favorite, the James Bond theme (1:50):
Gotta give a shout out to Crockett's Theme from Miami Vice too. I could listen to that for days. Nothing better than riding around on a warm night with the windows down blasting some Hammer.
