I placed an order a couple of days ago for 16 CDs . Apparently I got in just under the wire before they dropped the Media Mail option. It has already shipped.
I have to admit, if I had not been given the option for Media Mail, I may have not placed the order. The $30+ shipping cost would likely have been a deal breaker. This is another nail in the coffin for CDs, especially when you wind up paying more for shipping than the actual items. This has already hit folks in the UK and EU ordering from the US.

I either never saw these films or never even knew they existed (except for two noted below) , but I listened to a lot of samples and found these that seemed worth a shot. This was a great deal with Media Mail...now, not so much.

THE FLOCK
A LONELY PLACE TO DIE
(These two are the only ones I've seen)
COLISEUM
FEMME FATALES
ALLIES
THE LOST EMPIRE
FROM EARTH TO MARS
THE GAME
UN TICKET POUR L'ESPACE
AGE OF HEROES
THE 4 MUSKETEERS
HAPPY NOW
BIG CITY
IN THIS WORLD
THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ISLAND
HEROES AND VILLAINS: ATILLA THE HUN/ NAPOLEON

Never again will I buy from them!!!

Shouldn't your anger be aimed at the exorbitant shipping costs these days instead?

They shouldn't change the goal-posts 10 cd's is 10$ ain't that false advertising, I don't care what its worth originally that's the value now, it stopped me buying for that reason what sales.

UN TICKET POUR L'ESPACE
THE 4 MUSKETEERS
HAPPY NOW
BIG CITY
THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ISLAND

The loss of media mail sucks - but I'm sure SAE was taking a bath in some regard to make this move.

The above titles, Ray, are excellent. I've played this sale game in the past - found some true gems and a lot of hyperbole junk I need to unload. The above I will vouch for as being terrific- at the price, why not! Tis what I said!!
Ticket & City are excellent space & western pastiche, homage scores, very impressive.
Island was a left field indescribable surprise- see Craigs note above!!

Happy listening!!
Sean

I have often complained about the exorbitant shipping costs from the US. But in this instance what hacked me off were the taxes which were not 'up front' and came about because SAE did not mark this as a gift, which they had done in the past.

yep same thing happened to me , I got outrageous taxes because SAE no longer notice "gift" on package.
I don't order anymore from them now (but no problem in communication)

Couldn't one just ASK them to mark them as 'gift'?

I ordered 10 titles from their LAST $1 per disc sale and although the value total on the package should have been $10, cos that's what my order cost (added postage had never been included before), they marked it over $30 which cost me an additional £13? or £18? UK customs charge as a result.
I was still getting 10 CD's at a reduced price, but it kinda took the shine off the deal and the whole point of the order was rebalanced.
I've just took a punt on 5 discs in this sale and asked them, in the order notes, to mark the value of the package accordingly.
Don't know if they will or not?
I'll let yous know in due course.

Technically that's a lie.I have had that discussion with them before.though this time I specified in the notes section ' please mark as $5.95 as this is their value'.If they ignore that and put down their old value and I get stung, then I'll sever ties and order no more

Well, yes, that is strange. If one can't put 'gift' (most vendors don't, so that's an 'extra service' if they do), then one should definitely put the sale price as the value, not its original retail value.

Regardless of that, however, I think the main issue here is the shipping costs these days, for which labels and vendors can't be blamed. It's why I don't buy anything from overseas anymore; hardly even within Europe. It's simple cost-prohibitive, as the shipping costs far outweigh any deal there might have been from the beginning.

Pretty dumb. The other day I sent something in media mail that would have cost $5 more to send otherwise. Only thing I can think of is they got too many complaints about it taking too long.

Shipping for my discs was over 45$USD - but doing the math, and even adding in Intrada's Return to Oz - it worked out to around $6CAD for each disc I ordered. Yes shipping is a high cost, but the overall price in the USA or Canada you just can't beat. Considering each of the items I ordered were all listed at $9.99 USD a piece before it's mind-blowing.

I ordered:

The 3 Department of Q's
1864
Drift DArkwave
The Game
Pressure
93 Days
Past Life
Kiss the Devil in the Dark
Chamber Suites - Cmiral
Bhopal
From Earth to Mars
Sword & Assassin
Palimpsest
Yellow FLowers on the Green Grass
Chima 2
and Intrada's Return to Oz. big grin

What annoys me the most, here in England,is the £8 handling fee paid by royal mail ' on your behalf'.And then add customs,(which,on their own,can be negligible).

I managed to hold my order down to 17 titles, which has already shipped. Many of the sample tracks are interesting which makes me think the overall programs of some of the titles might be quite good. I am going totally on speculation here because I’ve never seen any of these movies and TV shows and only even heard of just a few of them.

Even with the high mail cost, and I chose the bulk mail option, it still comes out to just a little over $2 a title. Thanks Craig.

I got my package this morning in perfect condition. Only two days from Virginia to Indiana via Media Mail and easy to follow with the tracking. I must be one of the last to be able to use it. Thanks Craig for holding off a day before the policy change.

I order classical disks every month from the west coast and use Media Mail and it normally takes 10 days to two weeks and no package has ever been lost or damaged.

I don't quite understand SAE's logic here that Media Mail is more prone to loss and/or damage other than the fact that it may be in the system longer (or maybe it's an insurance issue). I haven't gotten a lot of damaged merchandise in the mail, but the couple of times it has happened it was regular 1st class. The only difference in handling with Media Mail is that it is given the lowest priority. If everything doesn't fit on a truck, for instance, Media Mail gets left behind and waits for the next truck.
I got my order from Virginia here in Arizona in 2 days and in perfect condition. That's exceptional for Media Mail. A week to 10 days from the East Coast is normal and I've had packages take two or more weeks to/from Atlanta or Florida.

It'll take me a few days to work through all these. So far, COLISEUM (Marc Timon Barcelo) is a real winner. The composer really studied his Rózsa. Good old-fashioned Roman Empire scoring with some 21st century scoring techniques as well.
A LONELY PLACE TO DIE (Michael Richard Plowman) is also quite good. Some percussion-heavy action scoring along with Celtic influences.

Got my order in two days! Now that's CRAZY! I neglected to put a few titles in my cart because I was in a rush when I placed my order. Think I'll place another order even though I'll be paying double for shipping.

Got my box from SAE and thankfully, they marked the $ value price as what I paid for the discs ($5), so no poxy customs charges to be added.
I bought...
1864 (Beltrami) - already had a CD-R of it and love the Main Theme.
Pirate's Passage (Lockington) - the only CD by him I didn't have.
Imago Mortis (De La Riva) - based on spook's thumbs up here a while back.
The 4 Musketeers (Matt Dunkley) - based on his stirling work on The Kid Who Would Be King.
Way To The Rebellion (George Shaw) - cos it's StarWars related and one $ smile
