Was she the woman who played Brian Keith's girlfriend and sang a song (dreadful lyrics) to him in 'Krakatoa,East of Java'?

Was she the woman who played Brian Keith's girlfriend and sang a song (dreadful lyrics) to him in 'Krakatoa,East of Java'? yes, did you not read the obituary?? Grew up near me in MT vernon NY I remember her in a small role, as a kind of smug call girl, sashaying down a grim-looking hall, wearing a shiny, slinky red dress, and gaining entrance to commander Robert Shaw's personal quarters. Where he summarily dismisses her. (Stalwart male that he is, he wants to save his "precious bodily fluids," a la General Jack D. Ripper....) And that's all poor Ms. Werle had to do. (Now that I know when she was born, I realize she was 37 when she appeared in this, older than one would have expected for being cast in such a role. Wonder if she had connections...) Sounds like she made for a calm last section of her life. More power to her. Rest in peace.

.....(Now that I know when she was born, I realize she was 37 when she appeared in this, older than one would have expected for being cast in such a role. Wonder if she had connections...)..... From my very distant recollections, I seem to recall that Werle was connected somehow to one of the production staff on KRAKATOA. My memory is that she was, at that time, either married to, or involved with, producer William R. Forman. Does anyone else remember that while the volcano is called "Krakatoa" in this film, it's called "Krakatao" in FAIR WIND TO JAVA in 1953---a film which, by the way, is far more fun than the Cinerama film, with some wonderful large-scale miniatures shot by the legendary Lydecker brothers at Republic.

I met her, as a child, when she came to see a production of THE KING AND I that I was in. I recall that there was some talk of her doing the role of Anna, and that I might be involved; but as far as I know, it never happened. Not for me, anyway.

joec, this is a lovely remembrance to a little-known actress and singer, who I recall from her performance in Krakatoa, East Of Java. The photos from neo The Magnificent and Mr. DiMucci are quite fitting, lovely, and honorable for such a wonderful tribute. My thanks to you all.
