The original 2010 film topped the US box office and was a major worldwide hit grossing over $275m. Composer Brian Tyler is one of the most prolific creators of action scores in the business. In the last decade he has created a wide selection of music for many films including Children Of Dune, Constantine, Annapolis, The Fast And The Furious, Aliens Vs Predator Requiem and Battle Los Angeles His previous releases on Silva Screen, Rambo (SILCD1260) and The Expendables (SILCD1339) have been consistent sellers and the former has been applauded as a fine successor to Jerry Goldsmith s original music for the series: This time around, the heroes are more heroic and the villains are darker. The stakes are raised and the world s survival hangs in the balance. I am not used to the release date being so far behind the film. I know the first Expendables score was released on Silva Screen, but Amazon also had a CD-R on demand that was initially much cheaper and easier to obtain. Hopefully Amazon will be able to offer the same thing for Expendables 2 like it did for the first movie. As I've said before, Tyler can be hit or miss at times, but when he hits it, it's outta the park. I enjoyed the first Expendables score, but need to listen to it again to prepare for the sequel and be able to prepare the two. The theme from the first movie was solid so this should be fun. Standard Tyler action music which did fit the film well. The film was great and a lot better than the first which I only though was ok. It was incredibly loud though. Louder than Dark Knight Rises.
