Mr. Church aka Bruce Willis returns once more to recruit the services of Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) alongside the biggest collection of action stars of the big screen both past and present. The original 2010 film topped the US box office and was a major worldwide hit grossing over $275m. Composer Brian Tyler is one of the most prolific creators of action scores in the business. In the last decade he has created a wide selection of music for many films including Children Of Dune, Constantine, Annapolis, The Fast And The Furious, Aliens Vs Predator Requiem and Battle Los Angeles His previous releases on Silva Screen, Rambo (SILCD1260) and The Expendables (SILCD1339) have been consistent sellers and the former has been applauded as a fine successor to Jerry Goldsmith s original music for the series: This time around, the heroes are more heroic and the villains are darker. The stakes are raised and the world s survival hangs in the balance. That called for a more epic approach to the music which was recorded with an orchestra combined with world percussion and darker elements by Brian Tyler.

I think that he's back with another fuel-injected turbo-charged score and thematic balls-to-the-wall assault cool

Do you think that this new album is short? Why? At this moment, track time is unknown.

I am glad to see that this is coming out, but I guess I have gotten spoiled. I am not used to the release date being so far behind the film. I know the first Expendables score was released on Silva Screen, but Amazon also had a CD-R on demand that was initially much cheaper and easier to obtain. Hopefully Amazon will be able to offer the same thing for Expendables 2 like it did for the first movie. I loved the score to the first movie, so either way I will get a copy.

I don't know what your problem is smile Silva Screen albums are cheap. Pressed edition of EX1 is cheaper than CD-R.

I hope it's really good. As I've said before, Tyler can be hit or miss at times, but when he hits it, it's outta the park. I enjoyed the first Expendables score, but need to listen to it again to prepare for the sequel and be able to prepare the two. I've taken a good liking his recent action scores.

And again Silva Screen saves the day...

I've said it once and I'll say it again, I'll never pay hard earned cash for a download only.

Thanks Silva for releasing this the proper way.

Tyler certainly has the chops when he wants to use them. The theme from the first movie was solid so this should be fun. Plus Silva has started posting scores on Spotify so I should be able to give it a good sampling before buying the album.

Listening to the first score, one recurring bit sounds a bit like "Final Battle" from Rambo III. That might explain why I didn't like the first movie much - I think I prefer the cable movie of the same name...

Anyone listened to it yet? Is it more of the same, or does Tyler do anything new with the music and themes?

More of the same, although its a while since I listened to the first score so I could be mistaken. Standard Tyler action music which did fit the film well.

The film was great and a lot better than the first which I only though was ok. It was incredibly loud though. Louder than Dark Knight Rises. And so violent smile
