Thanks, Ray, awesome! Loved watching this (in syndication) as a kid in the early sixties on the old Zenith b&w tv, when the vertical hold wasn't acting up. I loved how Matthews talked faster and faster as the action heated up. Dig those '55 Buicks! Thanks! jackfu, you might be interested that Maisto came out with a 1:25 diecast model of the '55 Buick used in the series (with or without a siren).

The sound editor for "Highway Patrol" was none other than Quinn Martin! Quinn Martin really got his big break working for Desilu on THE UNTOUCHABLES. Quinn Martin started out as head of post production at Universal, then went to Work at Ziv Television as a sound editor, and then went to work at Desilu, where he produced a few episodes of "Desilu Playhouse" (NOT just "The Untouchables"). Guess where THE UNTOUCHABLES started? I believe it was called DESILU PLAYHOUSE?

I seem to recall that Gene Roddenberry got his start writing for HIGHWAY PATROL. (OOPS--checking IMDB, I see he was on MR. DISTRICT ATTORNEY first, in 1954.)

I'm completely re-obsessed with this show. Having a marathon-watching afternoon, right now!
