I didn't take a look at The Friday entertainment section of our local paper, The Trenton Times, until tonight. What a surprise I got!

The front cover announced the inaugural concert of the reincarnation of the Greater Trenton Symphony Orchestra as the New Jersey Capital Philharmonic Orchestra on New Year's Eve.

I've been in living in the Trenton area since 1981 and this concert of popular classics has been a standing tradition for many years. But what froze my gaze was the photo of MIKLOS ROZSA in the center of the page. Rozsa! In Trenton!

The feature piece being plated is going to be the Rozsa's famous SPELLBOUND CONCERTO (for piano, theremin, and orchestra), along with other popular classics.

This will be the first time any film music related pieces will be played, as far as I am aware.

For Rozsa fans in the New York-New Jersey-Pennsylvania area with no plans for New Year's Eve, NJ Transit trains connect Trenton to NYC and to Philadelphia.

Please consider attending. Tickets are still available.

Here is the concert page:!current-production/cb3i

I sure wish I had known about this concert ahead of time. My on-call schedule is set three months in advance. I don't go out on New Year's Eve, so I took the hospital on-call duty for that night as a favor to a colleague. Now I have to try to finagle with someone a 4-or-5-hour window around the concert to try to attend.

Oy - Film music problems right in my own backyard under my very own nose!
