Krongold 003 and Krongold 004? "Krongold" is a bit of an unfortunate designation isn't it? I look forward to their first Erich Wolfgang release, labeled as "The Krongold Korngold Collection".
A masterpiece from De Masi! Epic. Sweeping. Dramatic. Monumental. Can't think of any more powerful words to describe this score. My personal favorite from this composer; and that's saying a lot because I love the whole output of work from this true Italian Maestro!
Really excited to see this finally available on CD! This is a must for any De Masi fan, or any fan of Italian Film Scores.
SOLIMANO IL CONQUISTATORE was actually released on LP as much as 15 years after the movie.
SOLIMANO was released in early 1979 on a Beat double LP album. So this makes 18 years after the movie.
I am particularly happy about Rustichelli's I PROMESSI SPOSI. For me this is one of the finest and most underrated scores of the composer. I have had the LP for a long time, had also seen the rarely shown movie - it's not a TV series at all, but a regular feature film from 1964! - at the end of the 70s and have waited for a long time for a CD release. This is Rustichelli at his most operatic - you will even hear some echoes of Puccini's TOSCA in the brilliant choral pieces such as "Peste magnificat" aand "Marcia appestati" -, lyrical and romantic. For this little-known movie he gave his best and he was really inspired - probably by the famous Alessandro Manzoni novel - to write some of his most beautful themes. I understand that most collectors will have never heard about movie and score, but above all Golden Age collectors not only in Europe should give this gem a chance. This is passionate, touching and splendid music from one of the greatest Italian film composers. Simply wonderful.

there are sound samples among the 18 tracks, but not the unreleased music (19-31). I wonder why - quality issues?
And the last track of the SOLIMANO IL CONQUISTATORE LP (which is an outtake with talking) isnt on the CD - copyright issue?

I personally have no interest in this extra track. it is just 1 minute of session noises.
