I think season 4 may possibly have the best music out of the whole series (it was Beck's last season after all, and he always kept improving)...it's just that the season itself was underwhelming on the whole so people don't revisit it as much as season 3 and the music therefore is more forgotten. But remember, this is the season that gave us both Hush and Restless. And the rest of it is very good too. I really hope more of the Willow/Oz theme from this season can get released one day. Yavar

Ginger bread is not in my heart in term of episode but the score is really cool I love it the 4th season is so underrated that I feel nobody notices the awesome cues !! Still waiting for a tiny bit of news from Angel maybe box ? I haven't watched the fourth season in a while (and season 3 is a to-go-season when I am depressed). I can't pinpoint my favorite score cues from season 4, the only episodes that I remember as outstanding in terms of score are Hush (of course), Restless (of course), Wild at Heart (duh) and This Year's Girls/Who Are You (oh!). There are still some other great cues, probably, but since season 4 is bigger on comedy than on darkness/emotion and since there is not quite as much as stake in the personal relationships and with the villain, I think it will forever be a season that is underrated in terms of score. I personally like the 4th season I like all seasons actually >< the freshman sad theme, the kathy roomy funny cue, the beer episode (a lot of drum), Wild at heart '(of course) , the initiative theme is really cool too, 314 is quite good with a beautiful first Willow tara spell cue, This Year's Girls/Who Are You, Where the Wild Things Are has a one time used score with Anya "saving" Buffy and riley I love it The yoko factor, all the Angel part (fight with Riley and Angel's goodbye in the hallway) + the previously has a beautiful piano cue Primeval, the taking down the initiative is cool I don't mention of course Hush and restless But I think season 4 worth to "take a hear"

I really like season 4, I mean, some how it can't be compared to season 3 (imo), but at the same time, the really good S4 stuff is some of Beck's finest work ever. All of it has been mentioned already, but of course Restless and Hush (I would love to have ALL of the Restless score! Please!) But also: - the new sad theme used for Buffy in The Freshman and Living Conditions (sort of like the new Anne theme at the beginning of S3). - The fun and quirky Kathy music. - Beer Bad has amazing score! Very urban! - All The Initiative score! Like when we first see the Initiative (from the season 4 dvd menu) and also the taking of the Initiative in Primeval is awesome! If you dont remember it, go visit it again - Of course all the nice Willow/Oz cues! Specially from Wild At Heart and New Moon Rising. The scene from NMR when Oz takes Willow out to show her the full moon is one of my absolute favorites from the show. - This Years Girl / Who Are You? - Where The Wild Things Are, great music at the beginning of the episode! They track some music from season 3 actually, they use "Betrayal" for the scene with the old lady and then "Kralik's House" and/or "Blood Machine" for the showdown. "Blood Machine" fight music is actually tracked a few times during season 4. But it fits very nice. - In Primeval again, the very last scene has some great score. "Burn it down, gentlemen" - The Yoko Factor, when Buffy and Angel talk outside in the hallway is great! And they play with the B/A them a little. The only stuff I DONT care about for season 4 is all the Adam scenes. When he's in the cave(s) and just talking about world domination and how stupid people are (which is a lot of scenes actually, lol!). The score for these are quite boring and lifeless, imo.

If you rewatch season 4 to pay special attention to the music, I think you'll be amazed at what good stuff there is. It's just that Beck's music in seasons 2/3 accompanies some of the best parts of the show (which made more of an initial impression on us as well as likely prompting us to rewatch them more and commit them to memory). Some of the best Willow/Oz music actually comes after Oz leaves the show, and Willow is sadly remembering him. Yavar
