I would like to mention again for those newcomers who have not read this whole thread, this countdown is a random countdown of what i feel are some of the best film scores i have heard in my life, in short i don't feel no 48 is better then no 98 or no 2 is better then no 80.
Will 1 be better than 100?
I kid...Actually I've got to say that you have some very interesting choices! Some stuff I've never heard of. It would be cool if you made a list at the end from 100-1 just so we could get a birds eye view of all the selections.

NO-42- MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE-99- a very nice score by the always dependable Gabriel Yared, touching, sweet and very helpful for this romantic drama.

NO-41- FLATLINERS-90-Solid score and my oh my what a great main theme, for sure during end credits, been humming it for years, really can change your emotions, wonderful music from James Newton Howard.

NO-40- THE SWIMMER-68- good timing, a wonderful score , one of his first, i was a bit surprised because when i first heard this one it was before he did movies like Sophie 's choice, and then i was thinking this man is really a pop song man, but MR Hamlisch's score for this film is filled with melodic beauty.

NO 50-MYSTERIOUS iSLAND-61- Uncle Bernie's pounding super effective score works wonders for this Jules Verne SCIFI classic, for sure during the wonderful ending, watch the film with the sound off, then tell me how important film music can be for a motion picture?

N0-38- CROSSED SWORDS-77- MAURICE JARRE-another one of those played to death scores on my old lp, catchy, exciting, tuneful, lovely and very diverse, a winner from MR Jarre.

Re: Each day i will list one of the 100 favorite film scores i have enjoyed over the years. This is a random 100, no 100 i liked as much as no 1. Picking my favorite 100 was not easy, many i wanted to include but landed in my favorite 1000. You will notice a big diversity in my listings, all decades, many different composers. I listed no more then 3 from any composer.I know some of the films i will mention each day might have been discussed at one time or another, some have not at all . So if you will please be courtesy and understand, it would be silly to leave out the films in my top 100 which have been discuss on this board before. Anyway there is always something new to say from someone about a film score. Again in no preference of liking, here is my top 100.-------------------------------------------------------------------NO 100- Somewhere in time-80-John Barry-A fantastic beautiful score with a lovely main theme and solid romantic cues and pieces throughout the film. One of John's admired scores,the theme has been used often at weddings over the decades. In New York City in the 80's, the score was often played at the Rockefeller skating rink, as people enjoyed skating around the famous rink.
Hmmm ... I was thinking about listing my favorite 1,000 soundtrack cues, but does FSM have room for them??? I'd start with #1,000, then go to #999, and then work my way up until I get to #1. Stay tuned. On second thought, forget it -- who cares???
