Having a sort out of my CD's, I came across a greatest hits of Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, just full of great stuff & brings back some good memories. I see I can buy a five disc set for under £10, I probably will.

I'll be buying that recording of Solomon as well, Gardiner is my favourite conductor of period music, & I have many of his recordings. The two disc set of Handel's Hercules is fantastic, & they're virtually giving it away these days.

EDIT - just ordered both sets from Amazon. Wow, seven discs for the price of one soundtrack CD!

I quite agree about Gardiner, Rameau, although I'm awfully fond of Harnoncourt, too. All Gardiner's Handel is pretty unassailable - I think you will really like 'Solomon'. I'm thinking of going for 'Jephtha' next.
