Martin Tillman played cello on it. I've also heard When A Stranger Calls. It's a Zimmer score through and through, the vibe you speak of also being present in Hannibal and The Da Vinci Code. When I say he wrote it solo, I mean he's the driving force behind it, as no Zimmer score is ever truly a one man project. There are no co-composers for the first film.
I'm sorry but I am 100 % certain that Jim Dooley composed additional music for it and was credited so on the first promo that leaked out way back when. He even had tracks credited to him... Also, "as no Zimmer score is ever truly a one man project", how can he have written it solo?

Additional music and co-composer are two entirely different titles. I already explained what I meant by 'solo' above.
I don't often hear King Arthur mentioned with Zimmer's action scores and it's pretty excellent.
A few years ago, I spent a whole summer driving around town playing King Arthur in my car. I bragged about it to my brother several times. And then one day he called me and said he was listening to something on Cinemagic radio, but didn't know what it was. He held the phone up to the radio and said he loved it and was hoping I could identify it. I told him, "THAT's what I have been talking about all summer - King Arthur!"
I still think that this thread is some kind of inside joke, but PACIFIC HEIGHTS is certainly not entirely a bad score for which Zimmer (much less the person who composed it for him) doesn't get enough credit.
And, yes, DRIVING MISS DAISY, the one Zimmer score I actually bought when it was released.
I really like Beyond Rangoon, but seeing how many people list it...it's probably not quite as underrated as Spanglish, a score I love which works wonderfully in the film, and seemingly I'm the only one who repeatedly brings it up.

Agree. A very stylistic score with Ms. Gerrard haunting vocals (love another Gerrard/Zimmer score). Also King Arthur (great action infused Irish score that sounds so organic), K2 (love that guitar), the Peacemaker (another great action score, though more electronically enhanced than King Arthur - overshadowed by The Rock), Spanglish (a lovely and small Spanish infused score), Pear Harbour (lovely romantic score), Beyond Rangoon (love vocal mix and electronics) and The Last Samurai (some stunningly beautiful sections on CD).
It's these types of scores that Zimmer should showcase at his concerts, though it would require a different approach.

Yup. He's much better at the smaller scale stuff than the big stuff for the most part, IMO.
Even on popular scores I like of his like Prince of Egypt...it's the more intimate stuff that really shines as special IMO. And I loved Interstellar which has a big sound but which is also a surprisingly intimate score.
