"The Galaxy Being" is not on the set because they couldn't find the tapes.
Anyway, it's a very brief score that feeds on a Stoney Burke score "Forget No More".

A great piece of music by Frontiere! Later re-used on the Outer Limits.

I think it was James Horner who said "Never let a good note go to waste" wink

Was the music at the start (actually as orchestrated at 1:45) included in the LLL 3-cd set?

No, it was not because it was not Outer Limits music.

I don't know why Frontiere wasn't employed for a 2nd season. Music can make & break a series, this is the case where the music gave the series a definite personality to the 1st season, its better than the 2nd.

The Outer Limits episode I like is The form of things unknown, its the same as the music in the Invaders, I'm one who pays attention to the small details, & like viewing a solid program the music matched, Can we soon have an over-due Invaders! Labels.

The tapes are missing.

The reason why Frontiere wasn't asked to score the second season was that he was an associate of Leslie Stevens and was let go (enter Harry Lubin).

The music can be found on La La Land's "A Name For Evil/The Unknown".

When someone claims to pay attention to small details but can never be bothered to punctuate a damn sentence, is anyone surprised he didn't know it was on CD already? razz

Frontiere used a motif several times on 12 O'Clock High that was close to the Star Trek Fanfare

I love most of the music Frontiere composed for season 1 (with a helping hand on the larger scores by his orchestrator Edward Powell, though uncredited). My favorite among Lubin's scores would have to be "Keeper Of The Purple Twilight", featuring the Theremin theme for Ikar that's heard when he reverts to alien form. Edward Powell? A new name to this Frontiere fan. I know it was said that his music school mentor (?) Robert Van Epps had orchestrated Frontiere's composition for recording sessions-which I think were mostly done at Bill Putnam's United Western studios (Artie Becker engineering). But what's the background with Powell and his work with Frontiere for the First season Outer Limits? Did Powell score and/or otherwise create any music for episodes which was not pulled by editors Elizalde and Farris from Frontiere's library-the one Quinn Martin had commissioned for use with his forthcoming TV shows?

Yes, they were tracked into other shows (The Chameleon, for example) Much of THE ZANTI MISFITS used cues recycled from Frontiere's previous work on STONEY BURKE. And of course OL cues were used on the pilot episode of THE INVADERS and season 4 of THE FUGITIVE.
If you search here for threads on Harry Lubin you'll find the links to the music library site which has all his stuff and you can play & listen to whole cues.
I think itunes and/or Amazon purchased the rights from production music label Warner Chappell to retail SOME suites (or parts of same) from Lubin’s library (though probably only in lo-fi mp3 format), such as was kindly posted by someone here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24Cfgnm4dWQ

But the really sad thing is when some of your favorite Lubin (or Frontiere) music was likely composed and recorded only for the show. At least one case in point is from “Keeper of the Purple Twilight”; that brief but haunting thing when that night scene opens outside of Janet’s home up until Ikar materializes in her bedroom. If only that piece was available as a high sound quality stem, but the analog master probably never made it into Lubin’s library Thus, it was likely trashed long before ever being commercially digitized and in 16 bit/44kHz CD quality. That likely explains why apparently no one has ever referred to it by any title.

Thus, in the unlikely event we collectors finally get a great sounding Outer Limits Second season CD boxed set from LL Land, Intrada, Kritzerland or other reputable label, that Lubin piece probably won’t be on the track list.

Please let me know if I’m wrong about any of this. It would be a nice surprise.

Have you got a copy of Reba Wissner's book "We will control all that you hear" or contacted her?

I seem to recall when the Lubin library was first sold, it was not completely digitized according to the new corporate owner. The existing digital tracks changed hands with different companies, but no new tracks were added. So I wouldn't assume that the missing music is not intact somewhere, waiting to be remastered. I did inquire, but never got a reply. Aside from that, perhaps stems, which were apparently used to augment "The Invaders" release.
