133) Jenkwombat's spot-on reply to the horrifyingly tragic "major" upcoming Oscar news:

For the bottom six lines especially, Bob, I thank you... smile

Posts like that are my "film music", whereas my posts about defunct candy bars, old comic books, and ancient British sitcoms are my "concert hall compositions", and thus "high art."

134) Bob DiMucci neglecting to honor the late, great British actor Anthony Valentine--I guess ol' Tony boy was just too damned prolific--or not "Hollywood" enough--to warrant the usual superb "Da Mooch" attention. Too bad, because Valentine had one helluva career.

135) William McCrum's witty post in "Princess Diana: A Musical Remembrance":

"Is this a wind-up? This is GREAT material for a satire show. I'm sorry, people know I hope that I don't like being negative, and I don't like criticising peoples' individual need for expressing some sort of grief but ...

"You sent a CD to Princes William and Harry with an action track called 'Paparazzi Car Chase and Crash'? And one about a heart struggling to survive?

"Let me just get my head around that again ...

"You sent a CD to Princes William and Harry with an action track called 'Paparazzi Car Chase and Crash'? And one about a heart struggling to survive?

"I wouldn't comment on the actual business of Princess Diana, nil nisi bonum etc., but hey ... no 'Lost Weekend' 'alcoholism' theme for Al Fayed's driver?

"One more time there ....

"You sent a CD to Princes William and Harry with a track called 'Paparazzi Car Chase and Crash'? And one about a heart struggling to survive?

"(Incidentally, there WAS an official CD about this, which I think my brother bought, because it had Bryan Ferry singing 'Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day?', and we like Bryan we do, his music anyway.}

"Will and Harry are nice enough guys I'm sure, but they're also wolves in their own way. It goes with the territory. Aren't you glad you got no reply ....?"

Thanks Jim. Just finished wiping the tears from my eyes after reading through that Crazy Diana thread.
There's enough comedy there to fill three series of Monty Python!!

So, a favorite of my posts was one where I didn't post at all? Out of the thousands of non-posts I've made over the years, how did you ever decide that this one was your favorite? smile

Because I was expecting that Anthony Valentine post, but it never arrived. I'll also include your non-post on actor Red West, as it also would have been superb.

Bob's non-post being a favorite is not a first, as I had already awarded Disco Stu with a mention in this thread for his absence in a long-running thread on "Saturday Night Fever."

A shout for TGs film review with genius payoff ...

"Avengers Infirmary Ward 7.6/10

Heh, yes, I’d go along with this, why not. Some fun to be had along the way, especially the cock fighting between Thor and Quill, and Tom Holland was better at being Spider-Man than the kid in Justice League was at being Flash. Will there be an infirmary Ward 2? Of course there will - that’s where I had my wisdom teeth out."

Last Child's comments in “2018: What Goldsmith do you want next from Varese?”

Naming fictitious Goldsmith scores for fictitious films in Seinfeld. (along with positing images)
Virtually ignored by everyone but f’ing hilarious!

His 1996 rejected score for DEATH BLOW.
His 1993 rejected score for CHECKMATE.
His rejected score for SACK LUNCH.
His rejected score for ROCHELLE ROCHELLE.

136) As loathe as I am to admit it, dan the man's post in "Movie Characters You Fear You'll Become" is highly amusing. In fact, it could serve as a primer on how to post like him:

"What is so obvious about WOODY ALLEN, no matter what part he played.Just his natural expression and look when there is nothing going on, good or bad nice or hectic, gives off a guy who looks depress and down and out. Even when in the parts he is playing he is happy for a while. The type of guy you see walking down a big city street on a rainy day.It is really hilarious, but the funny thing is when you see him on the street as I did many times he looks the same way, [ha-ha-ha] I tell you life can be real funny at times."

Already on it, Bill old friend! That thread should be bumped, as my investigation into seeing who the more courageous FSMers actually are deserves a further look.

137) Bill Carson in "Movie Characters You Fear You'll Become":

"Jim... that scene from the Limey.

I've got an accent like that and even I didn't undertand what he was saying!!!

In the 60s Stamp's accent was more natural and flowed. In fact, he has a unique and distinctive voice. But after many years in the States with his voice changing - then asked to do an exaggerated Mockney Cockney - it was awful. Cringeable! Dick Van Dyke Mary Poppins level. Think Tony Curtis in Spartacus?

It destroyed any credibility this film had. Talk about scary, I spent watching most of it behind a cushion with fingers in my ears!"

138) Graham Watt in "Do You Have a Beard?":

You n' him n' me all! It's funny - Phelpsy was the most vociferous of us all when it came down to extolling the virtues of the bare-faced cheeks, and yet now he/we are falling over ourselves, and tripping over our Gandolfs, shouting from the rooftops how wonderful it is to be freed from the slavery - but not the salivary - of denying nature to run its course and create exotic facial topiary-effects.

I think some of us may have secretly discarded some giant seed pods from under the bed in the past few weeks. It ain't so bad. No soppy love problems, and no hate either. Can we all now just accept Star Wars in peace?
