Just tried to order this but it appears limited to the USA and Canada only. Or am I missing a trick somewhere?

A masterpiece from the Master of Terror & Suspense!
Excellent mechanical effects, great cast including KURT RUSSELL, has tension,
suspense, action & a cracker score - nuff said!
Let's NOT compare it to that gawd awful prequel with CGI in 2011!

Which reminds me, I must watch these again.

I really enjoy the prequel and always watch both together now, as if they are one long movie.

Hmm, the Shout website won't ship outside of the US or Canada but will it not ship to the UK if you order from the US Amazon store? If not send me an email.

I enjoyed the prequel, but like the Thing itself, it was imitation.

One thing that always bothers me when I see it in the Carpenter film is when Kurt Russell's character throws his drink into one of the computer's guts simply because he lost a chess game. Seems rather adolescent to me. Too many of the all-male characters in Carpenter's version seem like overgrown teenagers -- and many of them just plain jerks. I'd much rather hang out with the folks in the '51 version -- at least a couple were women!

Same here...the prequel is very underrated.

You know, I get that people like The Thing 1982, but calling it a 'classic' or "masterpiece" is hyperbole, good movie - okay, maybe really good movie-okay, classic or masterpiece, no, it is not. It is this kind of hyperbole speak and thinking that is part a part of the lowering of tastes where almost anything that is put on screen with enough action and CG is called "awesome" when it certainly is not.

Kinda agree with you on this.
It is not even as good as the Howard Hawks version.

This reminds me of the SORCERER reissue where it was claimed to be a "Classic" (I think I even started a thread about this hype)
