Has BEN (1972) been mentioned yet?

A bunch of films from the 70s still didn't make it to dvd. BEN is propably best remembered for the title song performed by Michael Jackson.

A few others from the same decade:

Caravan To Vaccares (1974)

Paul & Michelle (sequel to the controversial coming-of-age drama FRIENDS from 1971) (1974)

Special Delivery (Dangerous Break) (1976)

What about the crime drama "The Scarlet Hour"? The score by Leith Stevens got a C.D. release as part of that 3 disc set from Intrada, but the film has yet to see a D.V.D. M.O.D. D.V.D.-R., or even a Blu ray release.

The 1956 crime drama THE SCARLET HOUR was a straight Paramount production and release. The studio renewed its copyright on the film in 1983. There is no apparent reason why the film has never had a home video release on any format, assuming that suitable film elements are not the issue. The story was an original screenplay, so there are no literary rights that should be a problem. The only thing that might be beyond Paramount's control is the song "Never Let Me Go" by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans, which is sung by Nat "King" Cole in the film. Cole, who plays a nightclub singer, is credited onscreen as "A Capitol Recording Artist."

Paramount made a special effort to introduce "new faces," in film, which marked the feature film debuts of Carol Ohmart, Tom Tryon and Elaine Stritch. Jody Lawrance had appeared in several previous films, however.

Stritch (1925--2014) was a well-known Broadway actress who, although she appeared in a few theatrical films, enjoyed greater success on the stage and on television. Tryon (1926--1991) also appeared on many television programs in the 1960s. After his last film appearance in 1971, Tryon retired from acting and became a best-selling novelist.

The nightclub scenes for THE SCARLET HOUR were filmed at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Crystal Room nightclub. In conjunction with Paramount's VistaVision process, the film used a new Japanese lens, the Fujinon, which permitted graphic photography with much less light assistance than needed with regular lenses.

Pia Zadora is THE LONELY LADY.
--------------------------------------------------
So is this something you're dying to see released? Have you actually seen it? Just want to clarify before trying to hunt it down.

---------------------------------------------------
Would love to see the hilarious "sex under the influence" scene, or the infamous "hallucination" scene in high definition. It's the movie that killed once and for all the hackneyed Jacqueline Susann/Harold Robbins school of trash spectaculars that plagued the cinema in the late '70s/early '80s.

Shout! Factory has revealed that it’s releasing the cult classic THE LONELY LADY (1983) on 6/13/2017.

This one is very rare and extremely indie:
Private Property (1959) starring Corey Allen and Warren Oates.

PRIVATE PROPERTY was released on Blu-ray by Cinelicious Pics on November 8, 2016.

And there's still no The Honkers (1972) with James Coburn.

After wallowing for years in a completely unwatchable letterboxed format on DVD, The Abyss (1989) is supposed to be debuting on Blu-Ray sometime this year. Absolutely cannot wait. Way, way past time.

With the current "Whats The Title?" thread I've been reminded of a little film I really enjoyed called, "House". Apparently it's on DVD for a cheap price. I can't imagine it will ever be released on Blu Ray.

On the topic of Roger Corman sleaze, still waiting for "Big Bad Mama 2" on Blu Ray. big grin

VCI have announced the Blu-ray release of One Million B.C. (1940), no release date yet. I hope they've been able to get their hands on some decent film elements.

How about "No Place To Hide"? It was set in the Phillipines regarding some deadly pellets. It was released by Allied Artists, though it's not known if it aired on T.C.M., because John Gilbert, the son of the film's composer Herschel Burke Gilbert, says that it had dropped out of sight.

Released on July 25th, apparently a 2K transfer from the original negatives.

Kino Lorber finally released 1492 Conquest of Paradise on US BluRay. It is an imperfect film, but it was back when Ridley was at least doing something more interesting. The bluray looks pretty good. The score sound great on the new bluray, but while I like the score I realized during watching it again how badly it works against the film in most cases, overwhelming what is on screen, and overpowering it with religious heaviness too often. Nonetheless, there is some engaging and occasionally very impressive stuff in 1492. The raising of the bell, the landing in the new world among them.

Released by Allied Artists, NO PLACE TO HIDE (1956) was copyrighted by its production companies, Shaftel, Inc. & L.V.N. Pictures, Inc. When the copyright came up for renewal in 1984, there is no record that it was renewed by anyone.
