What about the crime drama "The Scarlet Hour"? The score by Leith Stevens got a C.D. release as part of that 3 disc set from Intrada, but the film has yet to see a D.V.D. M.O.D. D.V.D.-R., or even a Blu ray release. The 1956 crime drama THE SCARLET HOUR was a straight Paramount production and release. The studio renewed its copyright on the film in 1983. There is no apparent reason why the film has never had a home video release on any format, assuming that suitable film elements are not the issue. The story was an original screenplay, so there are no literary rights that should be a problem. The only thing that might be beyond Paramount's control is the song "Never Let Me Go" by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans, which is sung by Nat "King" Cole in the film. Cole, who plays a nightclub singer, is credited onscreen as "A Capitol Recording Artist." Paramount made a special effort to introduce "new faces," in film, which marked the feature film debuts of Carol Ohmart, Tom Tryon and Elaine Stritch. Jody Lawrance had appeared in several previous films, however. Stritch (1925--2014) was a well-known Broadway actress who, although she appeared in a few theatrical films, enjoyed greater success on the stage and on television. Tryon (1926--1991) also appeared on many television programs in the 1960s. After his last film appearance in 1971, Tryon retired from acting and became a best-selling novelist. The nightclub scenes for THE SCARLET HOUR were filmed at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Crystal Room nightclub. In conjunction with Paramount's VistaVision process, the film used a new Japanese lens, the Fujinon, which permitted graphic photography with much less light assistance than needed with regular lenses.

After wallowing for years in a completely unwatchable letterboxed format on DVD, The Abyss (1989) is supposed to be debuting on Blu-Ray sometime this year. Absolutely cannot wait. Way, way past time.

Just a quick update/recap guys: The Swinger The Naked Ape Caravan to Vaccares The Scarlet Hour Paul and Michelle Special Delivery ... have all been added to The Most Wanted On DVD/Blu-Ray Pinterest Board. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. My only request is that each person makes one at a time which allows me to research and post them all. Willard Ben ... as noted will be released by Shout! Factory on Blu-Ray May 16, 2017. Both have been posted recently to the CC's Pinterest Board of New Releases (here): https://au.pinterest.com/TheCinemaCafe/new-releases-on-blu-ray-and-dvd/ The Sea Wolf ... is a previous entry on the board. Still no word as to a release on DVD or Blu-Ray. The Lonely Lady Private Property ... have both been updated thanks to Bob's detective work and invaluable support. The Honkers ... (a previous entry on the Board) that's right as far as I'm aware, no release pending. Thanks Everyone for keeping this thread alive and especially to Bob for all of his tireless research! Here's the Board as it now stands (for individual updates, click on the image of interest): https://au.pinterest.com/TheCinemaCafe/the-community-chest-most-wanted-by-fans-on-dvd-or-/

VCI have announced the Blu-ray release of One Million B.C. (1940), no release date yet. I hope they've been able to get their hands on some decent film elements. That's good news. Please let us know when they do announce when it's being released so that I can note it on our board. Thanks!

How about "No Place To Hide"? It was set in the Phillipines regarding some deadly pellets. It was released by Allied Artists, thought it's not known if it aired on T.C.M., because John Gilbert, the son of the film's composer Herschel Burke Gilbert, says that it had dropped out of sight. Released by Allied Artists, NO PLACE TO HIDE (1956) was copyrighted by its production companies, Shaftel, Inc. & L.V.N. Pictures, Inc. When the copyright came up for renewal in 1984, there is no record that it was renewed by anyone.
