BERNARD HERRMANN'S THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR
WORLD PREMIERE AT THE VARÈSE SARABANDE 35th ANNIVERSARY HALLOWEEN GALA!!
The Varèse Sarabande 35th Anniversary Halloween Gala isn't just any Halloween concert ... it will be film music history on stage. Filling the stage ... and filling the room with some of the greatest film music ever composed. And that certainly applies to this score. Everyone who attends this concert will be part of a historic film music event. Bernard Herrmann is one of the film music's immortal legends. He wrote classic after classic ... from Citizen Kane to The Day The Earth Stood Still to Vertigo to Psycho to Taxi Driver and on and on. His music has been performed in countless concerts around the world. But never this one. One of the most beautiful film scores ever composed and Herrmann's favorite of his own work, THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR will receive its world premiere performance with John Debney and the Golden State Pops Orchestra on October 19 at the Warner Grand Therater. Halloween music isn't all scary. Here we have a magically romantic and haunting love story. We'll all take a little trip together to the ever-so-slightly haunted Gull Cottage ... a beautiful old mansion, high on an English cliff and overlooking the sea. Bernard Herrmann's masterpiece from 1947 ... LIVE at the Varèse Sarabande 35th Anniversary Halloween Gala! How exciting is this?

LEE HOLDRIDGE TO PERFORM AT THE VARÈSE SARABANDE 35th ANNIVERSARY HALLOWEEN GALA!
It just keeps getting better! We are thrilled to announce that the great Lee Holdridge has joined the Varèse Sarabande 35th Anniversary Halloween Gala! Lee Holdridge is one of America's greatest masters. His concerts works (Violin Concerto No. 2) are works of genius. His latest opera (Dulce Rosa) was acclaimed as a masterpiece. His film scores (The Beastmaster, Splash, Old Gringo, 16 Days of Glory) are classics. His television work (Beauty and The Beast, The Mists of Avalon) is legendary. He has arranged and conducted albums for John Denver, Placido Domingo, Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand among so many others. Earlier this year Lee composed a special arrangment of Alex North's Spartacus Love Theme for flutist Sara Andon. Lee Holdridge is a national treasure. He has been part of the Varèse Sarabande family from the very beginning. We are overjoyed that he will be with us to continue the celebration of our 35th anniversary at our Halloween Spectacular with the Golden State Pops Orchestra on October 19. Don't Miss this historic occasion at the Warner Grand Theater! Tickets are still available.

As he said:

BRIAN TYLER TO PERFORM AT THE VARÈSE SARABANDE 35th ANNIVERSARY HALLOWEEN GALA!
So excited to announce that Brian Tyler is joining the Varèse Sarabande 35th Anniversary Halloween Gala! One of our very best friends at Varèse Sarabande, Brian Tyler was a must for the incredible line up we had for the Varèse Anniversary Concert back in May, when he performed his powerful theme from ALIENS vs. PREDATOR: REQUIEM and rocked the foundation of the Warner Grand Theater. With already more that 20 albums on Varèse, including Children of Dune, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, Battle L.A., Darkness Falls, Fast Five, Eagle Eye, The Fast and The Furious, Brake, Partition, Annapolis and Timeline, we couldn't be happier about Brian joining our Halloween party! Don't miss Brian Tyler conducting the Golden State Pops Orchestra, October 19, 2013 as part of Varèse Sarabande's 35th Anniversary celebration!

GO! Buy a ticket! Morricone/Henry has been such a great promoter of this wonderful venue and orchestra. My first time (and I'm sorry about this) was the Varese 35th. Totally Awesome! I booked in early July for the Nov. and Dec. Concerts. I was moved to make a very well earned GSPO donation. Don't miss it!

AT THE VARÈSE SARABANDE 35th ANNIVERSARY HALLOWEEN GALA!!
Halloween Is Coming. The Varèse Sarabande 35th Anniversary Halloween Gala is still getting bigger ... and seats are getting fewer. For Varèse Sarabande's Anniversary concert at Fimucité in Tenerife this summer Ramin prepared a special concert version of his theme and even added choir! The new piece was played again at the Transatlantyk festival in Poznan, Poland. Now, GAME OF THRONES receives it American Premiere when Steve Allen Fox and the Golden State Pops Orchestra will be joined by Golden State Pops Chorale, led by Maestra Marya Basaraba on October 19 at the Warner Grand Theater. Yeah, I don't really see how Game of Thrones fits this.

I don't know, I always thought there is more than a tinge of gothic in GAME OF THRONES. And, for me, gothic is always Halloween.

SARA ANDON TO PERFORM
GEORGES DELERUE'S SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES
AT THE VARÈSE SARABANDE 35th ANNIVERSARY HALLOWEEN GALA!
Film music's most famous flutist has performed Georges Delerue's Academy Award-winning theme from A LITTLE ROMANCE with orchestras around the world this year, but it's Halloween now and time for a new piece. It's time for things to turn a little darker. It's one minute before midnight. In the immortal words of William Shakespeare, and inspired by the nightmarish world of Ray Bradbury's gothic masterpiece, Sara Andon adds Delerue's epic SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES to her musical repertoire for her next appearance with the Golden State Pops Orchestra. Andon's flute will lure you in. Unsuspecting. Safe. Sounds of home. Of autumn. But it's a mystical flute. And in the dark of the Warner Grand, she will capture you. hypnotize you. mesmerize you. Release only comes by way of Andon's mercy. Sara Andon performs the American Premiere of Georges Delerue's SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES, with the legendary Lee Holdridge conducting the Golden State Pops Orchestra. Don't miss Sara Andon at the Varèse Sarabande 35th Anniversary Halloween Gala, October 19 at the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro.

I do. Lucky me. But I'm really getting tired of the way some of this is being promoted.

Judging by the fact this is almost a month away and the whole center section is practically gone, my guess is this will be their second sellout in their history. So I recommend grabbing those close-to-the-front side seats, the few aisle seats on the right or especially those primo balcony seats center because those are great views and acoustics (simply because that big balcony isn't very far back).

Varese:
Needless to say, the principal conductor of the Varèse Sarabande 35th Anniversary Halloween Gala will be the Golden State Pops Orchestra's very own maestro - Steven Allen Fox! We have been enjoying our collaboration with Steven and the entire GSPO team so much. The orchestra was founded in 2002 and have been invaluable supporters of live film music performances in Southern California ever since. Steven has led the way with thrilling and landmark programs of music by our master composers. It has been a great honor to have the GSPO helping us celebrate Varèse Sarabande's 35th Anniversary all year long, and with Steven sharing his podium with so many of the composer guests becoming guest conductors for the evenings. Next up is our October 19 Halloween Gala with Steven Allen Fox and the Golden State Pops Orchestra at the Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro, CA. The list of special guests will include flutist Sara Andon and composers Nathan Barr, Marco Beltrami, John Debney, Randy Edelman, Cliff Eidelman, Lee Holdridge, Joseph LoDuca, Brian Tyler, Christopher Young and more!
