OK: I realize that this is an old thread that is already lengthy.
But one benefit of a forum such as this one is to recommend to fellow listeners works they may have missed—and gorgeous orchestral themes are at the heart of my love for film music.

While most of my personal favorites have already been pointed out, there are a few more I'd like to add which I believe have not yet been mentioned (although please forgive me if I missed one from the prior 30+ pages):

- Tess (Sarde)
- Last Embrace (Rozsa)
- Providence (Rozsa)
- Winds of War (Bob Cobert)
- Misunderstood (Michael Hoppe)

This last one is a bit obscure, but to my tastes would rank in the "Top 25" of my own list of most beautiful themes. (The composer also used variations of this theme in some of his non-film recordings.)

Hadn't ever heard the Hoppe cue until just now. It's nice.
