Do you know why I'm excited? Because I saw an announcement today about the final season of Adam-12 coming soon (if it was announced previously, I missed it). I've been waiting to get the season sets until it was certain that all of them would be released (been burned too many times!). And at last, I can revisit a show I haven't seen since I was 8 or 9 years old. It's gonna be fun!!

David, you weren't reading my January 10 entry! big grin

Next week S6 of "Adam-12" finally makes it after an interminable 16 month wait. Shout at least will not make us wait just as long for the final season as they are fast-tracking S7 in the next three months!

Finally at long last, the "Big Three" of Jack Webb produced shows of the late 60s and 70s are complete on DVD at last!

I think I did, but either I forgot or I didn't realize it was the final season. Sometimes I'm scanning posts very quickly and intend to go back and better absorb, but don't get to it.

You know what I'd like to see released? A show from the '60s that AntennaTV airs late Saturday nights called....err...Suspense Theatre, I think. Ring any bells? I like what I've seen so far, particularly a Robert Ryan episode that was very compelling.

Kraft Suspense Theater, I believe you're referring to as oppsed to the late 40s-early 50s TV version of "Suspense" the famous radio series, which has made it to DVD.

Of the many anthology series of the 60s, few have made it to DVD beyond the familiar sci-fi/horror ones that had longer life in syndication. The only obscure one I know of is Barbara Stanwyck's anthology show from 1960-61.

To MR Sones-i am so excited too, my girlfriend loves Adam 12, now i can get it for her, so she won't have to bug me everyday about, when are they going to put the rest of Adam 12 on DVD?, she likes the show i feel because she thinks they are cute hunks, so she won't let me watch them with her, like a ex girlfriend of mine who didn't want me to go with her to Brad Pitt movies, because she had a crush on him.

Last month we reported that "Starman - The Complete Series" was coming to DVD from Sony's manufacture on demand (MOD) program, available starting April 3rd (a week from tomorrow). Today the studio made the package art available for this title, and we've got it for you below. Cost for this show, starring Robert Hays and spun off from the popular John Carpenter film, is $35.99 SRP.

"Ghost Story" I confess is a 70s title I'm totally unfamiliar with, but it's getting a MOD release from Sony that will be available through Warner Archive.

I loved this show back in the 1970's. Good to see it come to DVD.

I also see the final two years of The Bob Newhart Show from the the 1970's is also coming to DVD

There's been no announcement of the last two years of Bob Newhart, much as I'd like to see it get to DVD.

Fox at the moment has slid back to the worst of TV studios on DVD. They're not releasing anything and they're not even licensing anything at this point, leaving titles that should have been finished long ago like Bob Newhart, Burke's Law, Big Valley etc. in undeserved limbo.

Not to mention "The Felony Squad" which cries out for a release.

You will notice it says "unknown" by those titles. A long time ago, Amazon put up placeholding announcements and some fake cover art suggesting that a release was perhaps close and the rumor had it that Fox was now looking into it, but those plans have never come to pass. There has been no announcement from Fox, no release date and no set. Supposedly Fox has run into the problem of music clearance and didn't expect it to be a difficulty, but for now the two seasons are NOT coming anytime soon.

If MTM seasons 5 - 7 didn't sell well enough from the Fox perspective (I don't know if they did or didn't), there's not a sliver of a chance for Bob.

FELONY SQUAD will never get released on dvd. It would seem that some
enterprising independent label like Timeless would release a show like
this. But, since Fox refuses to license their shows out to anyone else,
it won't happen. Fox WAS licensing some of their tv titles to Shout
like PEYTON PLACE, but as Shout was preparing a volume 3 release
Fox demanded more money than Shout was willing to pay, and that
killed the deal.

The biggest problem with most of these tv shows from the 50's, 60's, 70's and
80's is that unless they have a huge cult following to this day, nobody
remembers them except a handful of tv collectors, like us.

Here's a SHORT list of tv shows I'd love to see released on dvd,
but will most likely never happen:

FELONY SQUAD
HAWK
DAN AUGUST
JUDD FOR THE DEFENSE
THE NAME OF THE GAME
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE
THE OUTSIDER
GET CHRISTIE LOVE
OWEN MARSHALL, COUNSELOR AT LAW
THE BOLD ONES
THE SILENT FORCE
THE MOST DEADLY GAME
HEC RAMSEY
TENAFLY
COOL MILLION
CORONET BLUE
CITY OF ANGELS
THE SIXTH SENSE
THE EVIL TOUCH
DELVECCHIO
GEMINI MAN
THE IMMORTAL
THE MAGICIAN
PETROCELLI
TOMA
MOST WANTED
SWITCH
STRIKE FORCE
SALVAGE 1
MASQUERADE
A MAN CALLED SLOANE
TRAPPER JOHN, MD

There are many, many more. The Warner archive COULD release
a lot of the vintage tv titles like 77 SUNSET STRIP, HAWAIIAN EYE,
SURFSIDE 6, ASSIGNMENT: VIENNA, THE DELPHI BUREAU, BRONK,
BANYON, etc.. But will they? Supposedly they have SEARCH and
HARRY O in the pipeline, so we'll see.

Well some good news today with the news that "Streets of San Francisco" gets unstalled from three years limbo with both volumes of S3 coming on July 3. The same day will also bring us S7 of "Mannix" which only has one year to go now.
