I like how a film won't be on TV for a long time, then it will pop up on one station and then another.Well of course Bob, you and i know why, but it is still interesting, famine to feast.

A while back TCM began showing the run of JUNGLE JIM films on Saturday mornings. This series, which was produced by Sam Katzman for release by Columbia, was based on the comic strip "Jungle Jim," starred Johnny Weissmuller as Jungle Jim, and consisted of sixteen films spanning a period from 1948 to 1955. The series is nostalgic for me, since when I was growing up one of our local stations used to show a Jungle Jim film on many a Saturday morning. And now here is TCM doing the same thing. This week's feature is 1951's JUNGLE JIM IN THE FORBIDDEN LAND, which will air at Noon ET, October 13.

I think I caught HOSTILE WITNESS on a TCM showing about 2 years ago. A neat little mystery IMO. It was filmed in Britain and released there by United Artists, but I don't believe that it ever had a U.S. theatrical release.

CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN-57- this groundbreaking effort was shown a few times on the CBS LATE MOVIE back in the 70's.. Then was put into a great syndication package in 1976, which included many solid Hammer classics.Shown often in the late 70's and early 80's. Since cable TV has basically given the film good exposure over the years. The film appearing on different movie cable networks.

What scenes are in the uncut version that are not in the other versions? Something tells me it might be the rape of the maid at the beginning. There seemed to have been a quick cut on most prints i saw when they show a moderate full frontal nude shot of her on the floor?

THE DEVIL'S BRIDE-68-This along with a few other HAMMER/20TH FOX FILMS in the 60's did not see the light of TV till a package was put into syndication in the mid 80's to stations in America. Since film has appeared once and awhile on cable networks. It has been a cult classic since and probably HAMMER'S most shocking film.

lots more of the rape of the maid and Bronson's daughter.
more nudity, more violence.

i hate censorship, even to a cruddy, exploitation film like this!

PLAGUE OF THE ZOMBIES-66- This effort was one of the 20th fox /Hammer films which didn't get TV exposure till the mid 80's. Has been on once and a while on cable since. They say MR GEORGE ROMERO 'S NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD might owe a little to this film made 2 years before.
