I’m with Josh and sirusjr here - metal music is awesome. Iron Maiden, Primordial, Mercyful Fate...all of it. My most recent listens have been Darchon and Remete, ambient black metal and depressive post-black metal respectively. Tsk tsk on the trolling, Bruce!

I am trolling but deservedly so. C'mon.guys, there are like 100 subsets of metal- " post black metal"...seriously? Time to grow up. You can't be a teenager forever.

There are subsets of metal, sure. Do you mean there aren’t of film scores? How does “being a teenager” contribute to your stance? Giving up here at the risk of feeding, unless the thread becomes more enlightening. One can’t compare Iron Maiden to Darchon, like one can’t compare Mancini to Zimmer. Metal fans unite!
Except for the Blind Guardian albums I pointed out earlier, and The Gathering (through really only after they aren't considered metal anymore), mostly this kind of music doesn't speak much to me. Partly because I just prefer instrumental music.
Made me wonder if this band/album would be of interest. I got to it because I love Tony Levin in lots of his different modes (King Crimson, some Narada albums with old Peter Gabriel touring bandmates, etc). This one isn't quite for me, but I do have it and its follow up and listen from time to time.
And one more band on the instrumental side - Djam Karet. I have a couple of their albums, started with this one - The Devouring. Really curious how you all would respond to this.
I've always loved that painting. I *almost* purchased a print of it for myself when I was working as a picture framer in an art store shortly after high school, but I settled on 'Ophelia' by John Everett Millais instead. 25 years (and many moves) later, she's still floating on our wall.
"[...]a stunning display of superb song writing with a classic death metal sensibility and skin flaying velocity, delivered with fearsome drive and focus. This album is one cataclysmic, explosive collection of incredible death metal." - Comatose Music
