For instance, people will say that something anti-Muslim or anti-Latino is racist. The last time I checked being a certain religion doesn't make you a race, and being a descendant of people from Spain doesn't make you another race either. In technical fact, there are NO races of men, only surface differences. We are all the same race -- the human race, one family of man, for better or worse, and unfortunately it can get pretty worse. I'm also of the belief that man is just one of the five great apes species, but for some odd reason people get offended when you insist they're apes. I don't see what the problem is. Never have since I first fell in love with King Kong, around the age of three! I'm just not sure it's all-out intolerant to accuse someone of the kind of brown-nosing which has an added effect of backstabbing your own....geographically evolved group. I get it, but that's assuming you're white. Takei comes from a power minority background as well. There is one objective standard that fits all equally when it comes to intolerance and bigotry and he met it and can't use his own race as something that should entitle him to a free pass. After all, as Dr. King said, the idea is to judge not by the color of their skin but the content of their character. And whether or not Takei is wrong about his accusation, I'm not sure it's wrong for him (or any black activist) to make the comment. I'm praying for the Days of the Comet...not the "Night of the Comet" movie, the HG Wells book. For some reason, I feel a need to recall a line from "1776". "Don't wave your credentials, perhaps it's time you had them renewed." Takei's past is not a crutch to be used to let him off the hook for an offensive, bigoted, racist remark about the lone African-American on the US Supreme Court. This is now. This is George Takei, celebrity with a lifestyle very few in this country, non-white and white who have mortgages to pay and families to feed and other things to worry about have any access to.
