I too seem to remember that ADAM'S RIB was his first, but I can't remember where I heard it. Of course, if one of us wanted to, we could go look it up at IMDB, but I guess we're all too lazy.

Some guy besides Mrs. Kramer also did casting for MAD WORLD, and he reminisced at a special Cinematheque screening that Kramer wanted one of my own favorite actors, Ed Brophy, to be Spencer Tracy's second banana cop, because he remembered they'd blended well together on screen in THE LAST HURRAH. I wish I could remember the details, but this guy told a very funny story about how he prematurely promised the producer/director that he'd lined up Brophy, then found out from Mrs. Brophy that her husband had been dead for a few years. After that, the casting guy kept having to cook up excuses to tell Kramer why he hadn't yet been able to get Brophy to sign a contract. (Eventually, inevitably, of course, the truth came out.)
