200th reply! smile

Okay...

It's 8:24 p.m. on Thursday the 12th and I have a full day of Jason-watching tomorrow so I'm going to get a little ahead of schedule and watch Mrs. Voorhees take center stage tonight, that way tomorrow, the 13th, will be completely Jason's day. Well, okay, Roy's too...

I'm housesitting for my parents while they're on vacation, staying by myself in a large house miles from anyone up in the mountains...should be safe, I have my dog and I don't remember Jason ever killing anyone who lived in a mountain setting (yet) ...

Now off to watch a couple of nerdy, campfire-singing blond counselors attempt a makeout session in the loft of an old cabin. They assured me "they weren't doin' anything"...

You know, I wish they hadn't stopped that freeze-frame, fade to white effect used in the first few films (like when the girl is killed at the beginning of Part 1 or after macheted Mark careens down the stairs in his wheelchair in Part 2)...I loved that effect. Wasn't it used in part 3 also? C'mon, you fellow F13 nerds, when was the last time that effect was used, in what film and on what murder???

8:40 p.m. Thursday 5/12: starting Friday the 13th

Happy Friday the 13th to All!

We'll begin our marathon this afternoon once Joshua gets off work. Although, Ayla and I might kick it off with F-13: The Series before he gets home...shhh wink

Seriously considering wearing my costume to Chipotle and grabbing a burrito. But how do I order with the mask on...?

Cue cards perhaps...

Well , when I was younger, kids in my age wanted to become doctors, firefighters and policemen etc, but I wanted to be Jason (no kidding). Not go around chopping people up, only to be able to wear that cool hockeymask *LOL*and later when I grew up I noticed how dumb that was as I wanted to become a mongloid maniac with a mamascomplex, so I changed my mind...I´m still quite fond of the guy thou, but nobody has declared me sane so...

I just watched Part 5 and still say Pam is the hottest chick crawling in the mud smile

So crazy that some of us oldies have been watching the F-13s forevah? The first time I viewed Part 1 was with my mom and cousin...I think I was 8 years old. It was on HBO and we watched it late at night, during the summer.

Ayla actually gets a kick out of the F-13 films -- she follows the characters as if they were acting/responding in real time. Like right now...we are watching Part II and the Sheriff is chasing Jason thru the woods and now into the lair...and she is tracing the scenes.

What can I say. My girlie loves horror films. In fact, the first film she viewed was The Omen. Blame it on the hospital, though; that's what was aired on the telly...

Pam is super hot. Nothing beats those twins from part 4.

Hey David,

Are you collecting Hocks now?

I have a part 3 and 4 Silver Shampain masks for sale...

Funny enough, I never even started watching these movies until just several years ago! As a kid, I generally avoided horror movies because I scared easily. In fact, it wasn't until I watched (and freakin' loved) Halloween for the first time in 1996, when I was 17 years old, that I began to really get into horror movies. The first Jason movie I saw was Jason Takes Manhattan, on cable in about 1997. But I never got around to seeing any of the others until about 2003. A horror fanatic new friend of mine I met online came to visit that year and brought the original. That was my real introduction to the Friday films, I gradually saw the sequels over the following year or two, bought the box set in about 2006 or so, and am been a fan ever since.

Ah F13th memories. I've probably seen all the movies via rentals and back in the day I always thought the F13th movies had great cover art. I remember going to the video store and checking these out smile I decided to watch some F13 the tv series as well, and ended on masters of horror (gave Carpenter's "Pro Life" another go, better than I remembered it to be.)

It might have been late summer 86 and I got ahold of Jason Lives and wanted to see that as my fave song He´s back (the man behind the mask) was in it with Alice Cooper and a magazine I bought also had Part 5 and 6 as a pictured story with alot of violent scenes. Ofcourse the movie was banned in my country, so this was a murky VHS copy, but anyway...
I loved it and the following week me and my friends rented Part 1 which had this awsome cover

then I was hooked for life of ol´hockypuss and Part 3,4 soon followed (it took me 2 years after that to hunt down Part 2 and 5 thou) and also got to see New Blood and Jason takes Manhattan
So you can say I celebrated 25 years with Jason this year *LOL* and it has been a happy marriage

Well, I'm pretty sad because I wasn't able to enjoy this Friday the 13th very much...I'd been very excited about it for awhile and eager to have a good marathon and celebrate in high style (no, not with Marcie's grass) but I'm housesitting for my parents this week while they are out of town. They're a bit older and on Friday the 13th (the horror!) I helped them out while housesitting by doing a lot of springtime yardwork that needed to be done...moving rocks, spreading mulch, cleaning out storage shed, digging, etc. I was so exhausted at the end of the day that even my yummy Lemonade Recovery Rock Star energy drinks weren't enough to keep me up long enough to have a marathon. I only made it through the first film! Absolutely pathetic. My slave labor is barely an excuse considering I'm such a Jasonhead...and sadly the next Friday the 13th isn't until January 2012! Whine whine...anyway I'll probably have some time today so I'll watch a few belated sequels (probably at least II-IV) and depending on how tomorrow looks maybe V-VII. I just wanted to say I've been reading the posts here and sorry I haven't been able to participate in the merriment and bloodshed, this is one of my favorite holidays of the year and my familial springtime labor-intensive yardwork duties kept me from spinning my Friday the 13th DVDs! Wait just a damn minute...I'm the author of my own fate (or "the otter of my own fat" if you are going by Laura Kightlinger's Irish brogue) and I'm going to make this "Friday the 13th Week", thus allowing me to watch the entire series and celebrate properly, albeit not on the infamous day itself. I owe it to Jason, after all the hard work he did, and I owe it to myself.

You know Deputy that the movies did not play out all during Friday the 13th (Part 2-4 is over a couple of days) so you can watch them during this weekend and not feel cheeted too smile

Thank heavens for the Kessler Perspective...I do feel better now David, thank you. Does that mean I also don't have to get high like the characters in Parts I, II, III, IV, V, VII, VIII, XI, and XII too? I'm so confused about where the line between reality and Friday the 13th is located...wink
