.....Have any of them refused? I think that Catherine Deneuve may have been one of the last holdouts, but after seeing some recent pictures of her, I'm not so sure anymore.....
This is kind of a funny comment because of legends surrounding Catherine Deneuve and her presumed plastic surgery work.
It was said that quite some years ago Deneuve had very expensive and very specialized and very fine surgery by an extremely skilled European surgeon and that her entire face is supported on a precision under-the-skin mesh netting of very fine gold threads.
I can't quite imagine how this would be done, but I suppose if it had been tested properly, and the subject was willing to undergo it, it might be feasible. She certainly still looks incredibly well put together for her age. Of course, simple injections of Botox help the situation along, too.
One of the most recognized secrets of plastic surgery, understood by the older stars, is that you must find and pay for the very best, and conservative, surgeon you can, and then you must start surgeries BEFORE you need them, and then do very little each time right from the start. If you do these very minor little nips and tucks each year or two, you can maintain a look which everyone recognizes for years and years, instead of that sudden overall surgery in which you look like your skin has been stretched tightly over a form, your eyes are weirdly narrowed, and your mouth is---to quote the Cole Porter "Stereophonic Sound" song---ten feet wide.
Some plastic surgeries make the stars look like burn victims whose total facial skin surface has had to be replaced because of terrible damage.
But, eventually many of these outlandish surgeries "settle-in" and then the star looks good again for awhile until the next over-the-top surgery. I saw some shots recently and was surprised at how well Raquel Welch now looked at 73. It's obvious she's had surgery, but it
is very good and she still looks pretty much like herself.
But, beyond good minimal surgery on a regular basis, the best guarantee for looking great as you age is a great lighting cameraman. Unfortunately, that is much harder to find anymore than a great surgeon. (Barbra Streisand NEVER looked as good on film after one of the great lighting cameramen, and her favorite, Harry Stradling, Sr., died.)

Yeah, this doesn't look good at all, compared to what once she was (and actually what she was until late into the 1990s!). But, truth be told, there aren't any better looking 80 year olds, are there?

But yes, the list of once-beautiful actresses who allow themselves to be ruined by those butchers is staggeringly long. I once looked up Barbara Hershey and wished to hell I hadn't.
