This is not invention, this is just copying what already exists and adding cheap 80s synth sound over it .... omg !

Omg...couldn't disagree more with you. The 80's didn't sound like this...the 80's sounded like the original Tron. I am not saying it is the most groundbreaking sound in existence and no one has ever sounded like this before...but it most certainly works, and it is GOOD.

I wonder who orchestrated the score though ...

Bruce Broughton is credited as "Orchestration Consultant" in the booklet.

Saw it at midnight on Thursday. I really quite enjoyed it. The score was fantastic in the film.

As for your spoiler, Hercule:

I believe it's mentioned that if Flynn does that, he'll die. That's the best explanation I can give.

As for a track listing, this combines all the bonus tracks, plus the two remixes available as bonus downloads when you buy the CD.

1. Overture 02:27 (not in the film)
2. The Grid 02:18
3. The Son Of Flynn 01:34
4. Encom Part 1 03:51
5. Encom Part 2 02:17
6. Arrival 01:59
7. Recognizer 02:37
8. Armory 02:02
9. The Game Has Changed 03:24
10. Arena 01:32
11. Round One 01:40
12. Disc Wars 04:10
13. Rinzler 02:17
14. Outlands Part 1 02:41
15. Outlands Part 2 02:53
16. Father and Son 03:11
17. Nocturne 01:41
18. Adagio For TRON 04:10
19. End Of Line 02:35
20. Castor 02:18
21. Derezzed 01:43
22. Fall 01:21
23. Solar Sailer 02:41
24. Sea Of Simulation 02:42
25. Reflections 02:41
26. Rectifier 02:13
27. C.L.U. 04:38
28. Flynn Lives 03:21
29. Sunrise Prelude 02:49
30. TRON Legacy (End Titles) 03:17
31. Finale 04:22
32. End of Line (Basic Slack Midnight Cheap Mix) 06:30
33. Derezzed (NTEIBINT Remix) 04:09

Yeah, it's mentioned that if Flynn did that, he'll die. And that's why he did it at the end of the film when he tried to save Quorra and Sam from C.L.U.

About the score it was perfect for the film. Both the orchestral and electronic cues. And Daft Punk's cameo was cool. The tracklist it's wrong in some places. Arrival it's played after C.L.U. and before Flynn Lives, Nocturne it's played after Adagio For TRON, Outlands Part II it's played after Nocturne

We should get inputs from everyone so we can form a consensus on the proper order for all tracks. I think "The Game Has Changed" needs to come after "Rinzler" and before "Outlands Part I." Also, I think "Disc Wars" may come later in the order. I've only seen the movie once so I can't say for certain. Thoughts?

By all means, I just snagged that off of another soundtrack board.

Looks like I'm in the minority on this one. Seems that most folks like it. Not for me I guess.

Score of the year for me. Simply addicted to it. Don't care if the movie sucks or not. I got what I need of it... a great listening experience *happy*

I will NOT be paying extra dosh ever again to see a film in 3D, because you stop noticing after about 15 minutes.

I don't mind doing so if I really want to see it; at least you have 2D options.

Good of you folks to diligently research this.

However... discounting the remixes, 31 TRACKS?!?!?!????? What the Hell? My "TRON Legacy" album has only 22 tracks!

Sentiment #1: Fuck the multimedia bs... give me the whole score.
Sentiment #2: It is with a focussed deliberacy that I would ask if anybody can PIRATE me the awol tracks... kind of serious... it *is* lame that all this music is getting spread around as if to foster some sort of silly 'special' scavenger game.
Sentiment #3: Release the soundtrack properly the first time, please. This is the day and age wherein such is possible (!).
Sentiment #4: Waah.

Love the score, hate the marketting angle.

I'm very impressed with Daft Punk's TRON. IMHO it's very clear the influence of Kraftwerk and Philip Glass, but it's a solid composition with memorable themes.

The 80's didn't sound like this...the 80's sounded like the original Tron.

I disagree entirely with the notion that Carlos's score sounded like anything from the 80s. I think the original score had a very Carlos, analogue sound to it, compositionally more 70s and even late 60s sounding than anything from 1982. More Switched on Bach/Clockwork Orange with an orchestra than Blade Runner or Chariots of Fire. Even with the digital synths I think they had that timeless Carlos orchestration stamp. No drum machines and none of the popular synth sounds of the 80s. I'd argue that only the Journey instrumental 1990 theme sounded like the 80s on the original Tron score.

Something like Tron Scherzo to me sounds like nothing else heard on a film score during the 80s. Utterly unique. I don't think Carlos' Tron drew comparisons to any other score of it's time, unlike the response I am seeing to Daft Punk's Tron (which I am hearing compared to Inception and Zimmer frequently), in my opinion. I think Carlos' Tron was very much a landmark score, especially it's integration of synth with orchestra. It's years ahead of it's time and I don't think that should be forgotten.

I apologize if I sound harsh... I just wish we could get the complete collection of music from... no market game-playing. I *do* love the score. Which of course is why I crave it in as complete a form as possible.

Yeah I think they are calling it a dissapointment due to Disneys non stop advertising for the last year. When you factor in ALL THAT and compare it to a movie that doesnt get all that much advertising, you cant help but call it dissapointing. I dont remember a movie so promoted. Certainly not Transformers. Certainly not Iron Man 2. And not even Toy Story 3 had this much.

I don't think there's any been more promotion for Tron than those films you mention, but keep in mind those titles -- every one -- are sequels to blockbuster movies with pre-established fan bases. They already had built-in audiences and were "franchises" to begin with.

I understand Disney did a massive push, mainly because IMO they had to. I still contend $44 million opening is not bad at all given the fact that the original was nearly 30 years ago and wasn't even a big hit -- and Disney was so worried about how dated it was that they withdrew the original DVD (you can't find it anywhere and it sells for big bucks on Ebay) because they didn't want unfamiliar viewers to see it beforehand. So why people anticipated it making any more money than that -- I don't think they were realistic expectations, especially given how badly so many films have done this year.

We'll see how it holds up, apparently it did well Monday and Tuesday and grossed $6 million each day. That seems to indicate it will play during the week, and with kids obviously out of school, it might have a chance of holding up. Naturally, we'll see if that happens or not.

Happy holidays everyone! smile

Happy Holidays to you too! I think they missed a lot of sales by not having the DVD/Blu of the original out. I cant tell ya how many people I heard waiting in line both times I saw it, wish they could have seen the first one. I realize they are restoring the original, but they really should have started when Legacy first went into production to make sure they could get it out in time rather than tie it into the home release of Legacy.

I can't wait for this 3D fad to go away. I watched Tron in 3D because the showing matched up with my schedule the best, but the 3D effect certainly didn't add to my enjoyment of the film. If anything I was completely distracted by it because the Dolby 3D glasses my theater uses are so horrible. I had to take off my normal glasses because I was getting multiple reflections off of them onto the lenses of the 3D glasses. This was incredibly distracting with the thin bright lines throughout the visual design of Tron.

The original being out of print is not an accident or a mistake.

I've read at numerous sites that Disney purposely put the original out of print quite a while back so a film that young people today might see as dated would not impact the grosses of the new one.

I'm not entirely sure it's the right decision, but it's definitely an intentional choice on the part of Disney.

It makes sense to re-release the original when the new one comes out on disc. By then it will have succeeded or failed on its own merit and the original can have no impact on it.

I know a lot of people like me in their 30s have memories of the original, but Disney's target audience for the new film wasn't even born when the original was made.

Wow, I just found out about that Nokia bonus track called Sunrise Prelude. This thing is incredible. Maybe Disney did stick a bonus track on a USB drive and put it on Everest. Has anyone found it yet? smile

Ignoring the pain that is collecting all the bonus tracks together... This is hands down my favourite score of the year, no question. Saw the film last night and really enjoyed it, the music worked perfectly. A complete special edition mixed into surround sound would be nice!

Hats off to Diss-ney and their money man for creating so many illegal downloaders, which is what this whole charade has done.
It wouldn't be so bad if the bonus tracks, made available elsewhere, where remixes or redundant filler tracks, but some of them are pivotal score tracks, amongst the best in the score!
Dickheads!! frown

FYI, the End Titles rock my nuts off.

I think this may be a score with not a lot of middle ground. You're either going to love it or hate it.

For me, this is probably the most compelling new release of the year.
