I guess the "missing" Roland Shaw recordings should also be mentioned in this thread...

THE RETURN OF JAMES BOND in "Diamonds are Forever" is in my collection.
It actually has some very decent covers of THE AVENGERS, U.N.C.LE and others.

Also in my lp collection THE INCREDIBLE WORLD OF JAMES BOND which iirc was only available thru mail order

This would seem to be thread to answer this score question. CBS 80s late night aired spy movie from the 60s about a spy "who was rebuilt" during the Korean war. Not the Manchurian candidate. It ends with him fading into Nyc crowd with some haunting music.

------------------------------------------------------

Yeah Double man is superb and the music is great.

Here is the main title music by Ernie Freeman:

Pretty sure yul brenner was not in it. Agent was former soldier in kirean war and was quite average looking bordering on stocky.

Anyone know answer to "CBS 80s late night aired spy movie from the 60s about a spy "who was rebuilt" during the Korean war. Not the Manchurian candidate. It ends with him fading into Nyc crowd"?

In 1965, United Artists Special Projects Division issued an LP (SP 3) with 12 tracks of original and cover versions of music from the first three James Bond films ("Dr. No;" "From Russia With Love;" "Goldfinger"). The album was designed as a tie-in promotion (through Pepsi Cola and Frito Lay) for the television special "The Incredible World of James Bond," which was produced by David L. Wolper for United Artists Television to showcase the James Bond film series and promote the upcoming December 1965 release of the film "Thunderball." The special aired in the U.S. on November 26, 1965.

In 1967, the United Artists Records subsidiary label, Unart, which specialized in reissuing previously released material, put a cut down version of the album (S 21010) into general release. This 10-track version dropped two of the tracks ("Leila Dances" and "Twisting With James") that were on the Special Projects release.

1968's THE DESTRUCTORS begins as three espionage agents blow up an optical company and make off with a tray of laser rubies. Paul Dunlap composed the unreleased score for this film, which was shot in 1966.

In 1965's SPY IN YOUR EYE (Berlino appuntamento per le spie), both U. S. and Russian agents are trying to discover the formula for a death ray perfected by a now deceased Nobel Prize winning scientist. Riz Ortolani's score was released by Saimel in 2009. The main title theme plays over the film's trailer:

I thought the thread was for unreleased-on-CD spy soundtracks.

Mistaken for a spy by the Communist Chinese, New York journalist Perry "Matchless" Liston (Patrick O'Neal) is tortured to obtain information about a lethal chemical substance in MATCHLESS. The score by Ennio Morricone and Gino Marinuzzi Jr. was released by Legend in 2011. Here's Morricone's main title:

Don't think this one has been mentioned: Assignment to Kill, great little flick available on Warner Archive.

I was gonna mention ASSIGNMENT TO KILL. I mentioned it in an earlier thread since some of the music was noticeably good, although I didnt care for the main credits title. I like the movie alot.

Anyway, how about this spy oddity: "Who?" aka "Robo Man" aka "The Man in the Steel Mask" (1973), scored by John Cameron.

In Paris, a blonde amnesiac, the mistress of Chinese ballistics expert Feng Hoh Kung, is pursued by American and Soviet agents, anxious to elicit rocket secrets, while their Chinese counterparts seek to kill her. Thus begins PEKING BLONDE (La Blonde De Pékin), a 1967 espionage film. Interestingly, François de Roubaix provided a Dixieland jazz score for the film. Four tracks were issued on a Philips EP at the time of the film's release. Only two of these tracks showed up on a 2003 Roubaix CD compilation disc, along with two more not on the EP.

Here's the title track of the film, as sung by Annie Philippe. It's not yet on CD.

This track, "Generique," an instrumental version of the main theme, does not appear on the EP:

I´ve always liked the title song from "Password: Kill Agent Gordon" (Password: Uccidete agente Gordon, 1966), though I have never seen the film:

Music by Piero Umiliani:

I still hope that the soundtrack will be released some day on CD!

I still hope for "When Eight Bells Toll". It's a wonderful hidden gem of a score. It's baffling why it hasn't been released (aside from a re-recording of the main title) yet.

As regards Morricone's MATCHLESS there were two CD releases - the 2007 Avanz Records release (SP/CR-20036 - 13 tracks) and the 2011 Legend release (CD 41 DLX - 16 tracks). The rabid collector must have both CDs to get all tracks that have, to date, been preserved to CD. I made myself a custom CDR combining both CDs and the total number of tracks comes to 19. It's worth it to purchase both CDs. / Oh, the movie is wonderful - FUN!
