I would LOVE extra track commentary notes by Jeff Bond, any time GNP would add them...is this the first of the Lukas-overseen reissues/expansions of Trek NOT to be worked on by Jeff?
Are there expanded pdf liner notes online for this release like there were with GENERATIONS and FIRST CONTACT, or is the physical insert in the CD it (not that that would be bad at all--it's a nice booklet as is--I just want to be sure if there's more info out there to be found, I don't miss it)?
The booklet in the CD is all there is, I would think GNP would have posted a link to other notes available online.
Damn, this beauty sounds great. I'm just starting to get used to the different, more screen accurate cross fades because of 20 years of listening to the original CD. I have to say, the original album was a really amazing presentation of the overall score (digital pops not withstanding). It was always 100% satisfying in that regard. Having said that, it's awesome to have it all at last, even the really short pieces. Not only does it add a dimension to the full score, this also means we have every frelling note of Ron Jones' TNG output.
I just ordered my copy last night via BSX, I was going to order via GNP but I feel out of my seat when I saw they wanted $17.50 just to post it to Germany.
The sound quality is much improved; now it matches the sterling audio in the Ron Jones box set.
For my iPod, I have my Ron Jones Star Trek music arranged into season collections. This means that the final cue in the season 3 set is “Captain Borg.” It's much more satisfying to hear that thunderous finale sounding so clear.
Well.... this is an interesting predicament I've found myself in. I go to my mail box, find three envelopes from BSX, and when I open them up, they all contain the same thing.
Despite the fact that I only bought one copy of this soundtrack, I have received not only three copies of it, but they're all autographed as well. I feel like something went wrong.
I've sent BSX an email requesting further instructions. Hopefully they'll be able to sort everything out so that those who were supposed to get the signed copies will be able to get theirs.
Now that's a true pity - I was really looking for another excellent Liner Notes edition. And even more so in this case as I really came to love this score a lot.
But thumbs up for your quick and straight answer! And at least two hand full of thumbs up for all the miracles you've made possible - who could possibly have foreseen a complete "BOBW" two years ago, for example?
Thank you so much and please keep up your excellent work!
Pretty good though basically is just a reissue. Listened to this all morning.
Just a reissue?
Are you kidding me?
This now contain the complete score and the sound is vastly improved over the original release and it fixes one MAJOR mixing issue that bugged a lot of folks over the last 22 years..
It's a major upgrade.
Anyone one who says otherwise clearly hasn't compared the two releases
Yeah they sound is MUCH better than the original, and doesn't have that wierd wierd balance issue that plagued FSM's box set through either. Even if it WAS just the same music as the original album it would be worth a rebuy.
