I was gonna guess MAKING CONTACT, but this would be the cat's pajamas. The clip sounds very Band-like.

That WOULD be awesome, but I'm pretty sure this isn't it.

Not sure I hear Richard Band in here that much though and I'm quite certain it's not TIME WALKER.

Hmm. I'm genuinely stump. Hopefully it'll be some sort of true hidden gem for all to discover!

If it's this hard to guess, based on an actual sample, I guess it's hardly something that folks have been crying out for!

Depends on who you are?

In this case the project is happening because of value of the music itself and the composer, whose work we really like and feel strongly should be available.

Sometimes you have do something that you feel needs to be done.

This is one of those projects.

No idea what it is, but from that lovely sample it does indeed sound like something deserving of release. Very interested!

Roy Budd ever do any sci-fi?

I'd have guessed Laurie Johnson. But he seems to have no sci-fi credits in the 80s... apart from It's Alive 3.

NO idea, but sounds quite lovely. I'm anxious to learn what the title is.

The opening comes very close to quoting Herrmann's JANE EYRE. Since Richard Band was known for his Herrmann quotes, I'd guess it's from one of his scores, though which one I haven't a clue.

Hmmm, I don't think I heard this cue before so just as a wild guess - how about TIME WALKER (1982) by Richard Band ??

I was gonna guess MAKING CONTACT, but this would be the cat's pajamas. The clip sounds very Band-like.

Oh man, what I wouldn't give for it to be Making Contact. Such an underrated & forgotten gem!

I remember that score perhaps someday, but not now.

If it's all like the sample, I am willing to take a chance on getting it.

I'm listening over and over. Truly stumped.

Definitely not Band's Dr. Heckyl and Mr. Hype. Just scrubbed that whole film on Youtube and found no corroborating cue.

If it IS Band, it's definitely not one of his films I'm familiar with and to my ear, it doesn't really sound like him anyway.

Doesn't seem to be Laurie Johnson's work, nor John Cacavas, nor David Michael Frank... I know I'm really reaching here, but I'm leaning toward it not being one of the, you know, usual suspects.

I don't think it's Joel Goldsmith, nor David Newman, nor Brian May. Robert Folk doesn't have any 80's sci-fi to his resume.

Almost sounds like it could be David Shire's BLUE YONDER but I don't think it is.

Orchestra sounds small. I'm gonna guess it's on the lower-budget end. TV project maybe. Something by Billy Goldenberg maybe?

It's probably none of the above, but this is kinda fun!

Me too, maybe it is something from the New World archives again ?
ANDROID by Don Preston ?

Cool little film, nice score.

Maybe someday, but not now.

Could it be another score by William Kraft?
BSX have championed his music in the past.

Something by Paul Zaza is unlikely because most of his scores were recorded in Canada, right ??

First thing that hit me -- VERY Band-like both in orchestration and style. Sounds like a small orchestra (if that) and maybe some minor performance issues (also typical of the Band scores I've heard, being from what might charitably be called "low budget" films). I'm not knocking him, I rather like his recordings, in part because with the small orchestras individual performances are clear and vivid, not unlike the early MMM re-recordings (which I also love!)

Stumped. It's definitely not Richard Band or "Making Contact." Paul Zaza and William Kraft are good guesses. The music could certainly be from a non-American film - if somebody told me it was Philippe Sarde I'd believe it.

Did Brad Fiedel write any orchestral sci-fi scores? I know I was surprised when I heard "Night School" and it was orchestral, so we can't rule out the likes of him either.

You can rule out Richard Band this time around.

Fiedel did a 1986 TV sci-fier called NORTHSTAR but that's all synth. Unrelatedly, NIGHT SCHOOL would be a cool release...

... William Goldstein?

... Lee Holdridge's made-for-TV 14 GOING ON 30 from 1988? That one's orchestral.

One of Laurence Rosenthal's 8 billion TV scores from the 80's?

Bob Summers' 1981 sci-fi comedy EARTHBOUND? That's orchestral, too.

Some good ideas, but no.
