I think it was a fine score, but I wouldn't support a re-recording.
With re-recordings as infrequent as they are, why wouldn't you support one? The original album was short and never had the greatest sound quality.
Anyways, I'm glad to see more War Lord fans coming out of the woodwork. I choose to maintain a bit of hope that this might be it, after all...I remember a lot of people pooh-poohed the chances of Exodus getting recorded complete...and True Grit? Villa Rides? Private Life of Sherlock Holmes? While wonderful these weren't exactly the biggest score titles ever (ie. like El Cid)
I don't know why you don't have the album, MV, but you should really give it a try. Here's a sampling:
Sadly I can't find the Love Theme or some of my other favorite tracks...
Latest betting, as divulged by my exclusive contacts at the International Betting Confederation:

Latest betting, as divulged by my exclusive contacts at the International Betting Confederation:
3/1 Sodom and Gomorrah ... I think we've already established it's far longer than 95 minutes above.
5/1 The War Lord ... certainly not 95 minutes, and, cold fact is, the Salter will unbalance the score. You'll see that if you hear it. A great score though.
8/1 QBVII .... great score, but I'm not sure how long it is. TV scores tend on average to have less alternatives, or did back then, depending on the edit.
25/1 Helen of Troy ... Possibly, though Tribute might have this one in suspended animation for better days. Probably lots of alternatives on this one though, so it'd be longer maybe?
100/1 Golden Voyage of Sinbad ... For that, you'd need lots of exotic Arabic and Indian players for small cues. I'm sure that could be done, but it's a big effort. Plus the OST is fully available, even if people don't like the performance. Actually, it's not intended as a big epic score, so I don't think that's as true as people think: I think any problem in the album was more to do with recording decisions, but that's just me.
500/1 Jungle Book .... maybe, if the suite was added as an extra. But it's largely there in the OST, and that would hit sales.
750/1 Captain From Castille ... Great score but is it commercial?
1000/1 Thief of Bagdad... I'd have put this much higher, though it's expensive.
2000/1 The Chairman ... Great score, but is it 95 minutes long?
2500/1 Duel in the Sun ... famous film, maybe a seller in the bigger 'legacy' market.
50,000/1 Land of the Pharaohs ... FSM has already released the whole thing in perfect sound. The die-hards here would be satisfied with that. And it's BIG ... lots of extra players, or many overlays.
Is the release going to be completely new recordings? There was a suite of it recorded previously (that was only both earlier Silva discs as well as the Tadlow Exodus release)
Wow! What an event! This recording evokes awe and frisson. I truly had goosebumps listening to this. A triumph for the human spirit, and Jerry Goldsmith at his very musical zenith!

What words can express the joy over this amazing release!?

C'mon now! This is the first mini-series that made all the other mini-series possible. The mini-series was monumental and the score was more so. Eternal thanks to Tadlow.
Looks like another fantastic release. I really hope this series continues!
As do I. Salamandar was simply stunning. Tadlow has an amazing group of people working to bring great music to the masses (and to Goldsmith fans the world over).
Already ordered the discs and will always support a "new" Goldsmith recording.

Well I love the suite so I think this will be my first of this subseries then
