Well done, Ian. I thought I'd done well but you have gone the extra mile! You are quite right about the Gideon Coe programme: it is Thursday, not Friday. It's worth noting that: - In Tune will feature a daily film guest - to include Danny Elfman, Carl Davis (Thursday), Alan Parker (Monday), Roger Michell, and Nicolas Roeg; - Night Waves on the 19th is devoted to THE INNOCENTS (1961); - the guest in Essential Classics every day next week at 10.30 is Tim Pigott-Smith; - David Arnold is Edith Bowman's guest on the 14th and presenter himself on the 15th at Noon; and - each of the Sound of Cinema BBC4 progs will be repeated on the following Sunday - this coming Sunday it will be at 10.35pm, after KING KONG, and then again at 2.35am (Monday). Some additional info: CD Review Saturday 14 September, 9.00am-12.15pm, BBC RADIO 3 **Includes at 10.30 David Huckvale's top ten film soundtracks Sound of Cinema: BBC SSO at the Movies Sunday 15 September, 2.00-?pm, BBC RADIO 3 ->This is scheduled to finish at 4pm Afternoon on 3 Monday 16 September - Wednesday 18 September, 2.00-4.30pm **Each day includes music from Westerns Radio 3 Live In Concert: BBC Concert Orchestra - Live in Concert Tuesday 17 September, 7.25-?pm, BBC RADIO 3 ->Next prog is scheduled for 10pm Late Junction: Sound of Cinema Tuesday 17 September - Thursday 19 September, 11.00pm-12.30am, BBC RADIO 3 **Max Reinhardt talks to Mike Figgis (3-part interview) Radio 3 Live In Concert: BBC Concert Orchestra - America at the Movies Wednesday 18 September, 7.30-?pm, BBC RADIO 3 ->Next prog is scheduled for 10pm Radio 3 Live In Concert: Ulster Orchestra Friday 20th September, 2.00-?pm, BBC RADIO 3 ->Scheduled to end at 3.10pm ** = New entry -> = Update Not strictly part of the season but of relevant interest is Celluloid Beatles Saturday 14 September, 10.30-11.00am, BBC RADIO 4 Richard Lester and Michael Lindsay-Hogg are amongst those discussing the feature films which starred The Beatles

Just for the record, a preliminary event was back on 8th September at the BFI with Hermann's ex-wife; http://www.bernardherrmann.org/news/#post-10919 "A special show live from BFI, Southbank in London, to launch Radio 3's Sound of Cinema season. His guests include Norma Herrmann, widow of the great film score composer Bernard Herrmann whose celebrated partnership with Alfred Hitchcock gave rise to some of the most disconcerting scores in cinema history; silent film pianist and composer Neil Brand; and the Tippett Quartet playing live and showcasing some of the best music to come out of the movie News Neil Brand, Norma Herrmann • Tippett Quartet" ------ I think that's the event that's in the programme tomorrow: In Tune: Sound Of Cinema - Live From The BFI Friday 13 September, 4.30-6.30pm, BBC RADIO 3 http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/proginfo/2013/37/r3-in-tune-friday.html "Sean Rafferty is live at the BFI, launching Sound Of Cinema with Norma Herrmann - widow of film composer Bernard Herrmann - silent film pianist Neil Brand and the Tippett Quartet. Sean presents a special show live from the BFI, on London’s Southbank, to launch Radio 3's Sound Of Cinema season and to tie in with the BFI's focus on the Gothic. I agree. Brilliant analysis and assessment of the contributions of Steiner, Korngold, Rozsa, Herrmann and also Barry, Williams etc.. Neil Brand knows his onions. He correctly assessed Miklos Rozsa's contribution as being truly one of the MODERNISTS, rather than just a late romantic. Great analyses of 'Adventures of Robin Hood', 'Double Indemnity', 'Citizen Kane', 'Psycho', 'Vertigo', 'King's Row', 'The Ipcress File', 'King Kong', etc.. This has to be the biggest ever exposure of the film-score medium for a whole season over many formats from live Albert Hall concerts to radio interviews, and this show so far is great.

you are right william he does know his onions. Brands top ten got a bit slaughtered on here but you can see the logic behind his choices and the category of score that each represents. I will be intrigued to see how he covers GBU/fistful.
