That was the beginning of the fifth episode. The clearest temp track lift in the show, but it actually turns out fairly different from the Horner (though it was clearly the point of departure). This is a fantastic series which I highly recommend. Great characters, great realism, involving story. The music in context at least is excellent and personally I would happily buy an album. Yavar

IMO, Carlos Rafael Rivera's score for GODLESS is the finest film scoring I've heard this year. I am salivating for a soundtrack release and every episode had me marveling at the understated power of the score. The music reminds me of a pair of excellent western scores, ALL THE PRETTY HORSES (by Larry Paxton, Marty Stuart and Kristin Wilkinson) and Carter Burwell's THE HI-LO COUNTRY (which could definitely benefit from an expanded release). Highest recommendation for the miniseries itself.

Watched the first one last night after the recommendations here and was impressed. Now, don't anyone jump on me for this because it may be that I simply haven't seen many of the last few westerns, but quite a bit of it reminded me of....The Lone Ranger. Maybe it was the use of widescreen in the style passed down from the spaghettis, not to mention the stuff with the railroad (that too being a major feature of Once Upon A The in the West), or perhaps the adult tone which many thought to be out of place with the Disney film. But don't forget I'm one of those few that loved TLR.. Will certainly watch it all. Fills a nice gap waiting for a whole bunch of spaghetti Blu-rays I decided to round up sitting under the Christmas tree soon..

Sounds good and will have to check it out. Btw, I first dropped by here because I wondered if the topic was about a very cool Danzig song named "Godless".

Those rave comments are richly deserved and it made me so happy to see how much the composer was touched by the praise. Really hope this gets a release soon. I'm greedily hoping against hope that it can be a two disc set, because there are so many highlights of this score for a 7 hour western classic. Yavar

Pretty good. Somewhat depressing considering the many fatalities. But whats with the widescreen ratios NETFLIX (MARCO POLO was wide also) ? If i want widescreen i will go to IMAX!

If this ever gets a release I hope it's a two disc set. The complete scores to the last two episodes deserve a disc all on their own, like LOST season 3. I think my favorite score is for the penultimate episode, actually -- the way it culminates in the theme for the townspeople as we witness their last fateful day with their husbands in flashback was the most incredible musical moment of the entire series. Then the highlights from the first five episodes should be able to fit on the first disc. Yavar
