Intrada has announced four end-of-year CD releases - an expanded, two-disc release of John Barry's Oscar-winning score for the 1985 Best Picture winner OUT OF AFRICA; a new, two-disc re-recording of Dimitri Tiomkin's Oscar-winning score for the 1958 film version of THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA; songs by Charles Fox from the recent documentary about the composer/songwriter's life and art, KILLING ME SOFTLY WITH HIS SONGS; and the score for the 2023 tornado thriller SUPERCELL, by Corey Wallace (F*** Marry Kill)

Having announced three "Black Friday" releases at the beginning of November, La-La Land unexpectedly announced two more, much sought-after new releases the day after Thanksgiving - expanded, two-disc anniversary editions of two John Barry scores for Roger Moore/James Bond films - THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN from 1974, and MOONRAKER from 1979.

The latest release from Caldera features the music from two seasons of the acclaimed true-crime documentary series THE JINX, by West Dylan Thordson (season 1) and Mondo Boys (season 2).

DID THEY MENTION THE MUSIC?

RED ONE - Henry Jackman

"This is a film that aims for mythological intrigue and rollicking adventure but lands more often in lead-footed bloat, suitably accompanied by Henry Jackman’s hyperventilating score. It’s always busy but seldom fun. The fantasy environments have all the appeal of the center-of-the-earth fairy kingdom in Kenneth Branagh’s instantly forgotten 'Artemis Fowl.' Non-human North Pole workers like talking penguins and a burly polar bear -- none of which are ever at risk of being mistaken for real animals -- add minimal amusement."

David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter

THAT CHRISTMAS - John Powell

"Curtis’ name will surely be the selling point for many parents, who’ll get a kick out of inside jokes taken at the expense of the writers’ other credits. Even so, it’s worth pointing out a trio of talents from DreamWorks’ 'How to Train Your Dragon' who’ve reunited at Locksmith Animation (the studio behind 'Ron’s Gone Wrong'): First, there’s Simon Otto, head of character animation on the 'Dragon' movies, making a winsome feature directing debut with this project. Producer Bonnie Arnold is also along for the ride, bringing her upbeat instincts to the mix. And composer John Powell supplies a swirling orchestral score that gives the whole enterprise a sense of scale."

Peter Debruge, Variety
