Audio Blog 1

I've decided to change directions a bit for blogging here on the FSM site by shiffting away from a written blog to an audio one. I want the audo blog to be more informal in nature and require little in the way of tinkering on my part. With the written blogs I constantly wrote and rewrote even after posting in order to get things as "right"  as possible and I want to avoid that sort of perfectionism with the audio version. I just don't have the time nor the desire for doing that anymore. I will be recording essentially live without much, if any editing so there will naturally be some stumbles here and there. I've picked a topic for each blog and haven't scripted anything so it's mostly off the cuff stuff, hence the "informal" aspect I'm seeking. So with that in mind,  beware!

Please bear with me for the first few podcasts while I tweak the technical aspects of putting together one of these things and get more comfortable with the process.

Anyway, here goes...

Great job buddy! I would imagine doing an audio blog as opposed to the great written blogs is so much quicker.

Hope these continue and I think it sounded great and it also sounded very professional.

:)

Great job buddy! I would imagine doing an audio blog as opposed to the great written blogs is so much quicker.

Not necessarily. However, it does depend how you go about it. If you don't write a script, do one ad libbed take and don't edit the piece... sure. It might be quicker.

However, and this might not be the exact way Mark is doing things but if I were in Mark's shoes I would still write a script, then record it, then edit, then add music, then export the file out, the encode it, then upload, then write a blurb on the blog, etc.

As you can see that process could be quite time consuming compared to just typing something out.

Anyway, good show, Mark. Looking forward to hearing more.

-Erik-

What a fantastic idea Mark, I look forward to more in the future.
Well done! incidentally this is my first ever post, you have inspired me.

Thanks for the nice words guys!

Erik is right that it still takes a bit of work to pull off, even with a more informal style of programing, but even so it does free me up from feeling compelled to toe the perfectionist writing line. I'll enjoy the more free form spirit of it with the result that it may not be as smooth sounding or as cohesive as it could be. It'll force me to finally blog instead of "article"!
