Been listening to a lot of TV scores lately. Robert Duncan's Last Resort was average; Christopher Lennertz's Revolution was outstanding, and Revenge is just awesome (getting into Isham's Once Upon a Time music next).
Revenge is at times very lush, very moody, and really underlines the soapy, duplicitous tone of the show. The synths are extremely well-integrated with the orchestra. Credit to Penka Kouneva who, as lead orchestrator, really helps broaden the orchestral sound and give it real breadth, depth and power. It's very evocative and the main theme is killer. iZLER really impresses with this music.
"Requiem for Amanda" and "I am Amanda Clarke" are my favorite cues.
I have been listening to this all day and even though its not my first listen, I have to say it is really knocking my socks off. Its so melodic, dark. Deliciously over-the-top music for a show that is deliciously over-the-top (and silly).
Incidentally, Mr. Eisler seems to have taken people complaining about his billing to heart as he's now credited on the show (and Reckless, which he also scores) under his real name.
