http://theoscarshorts.shorts.tv/thefilms.php (trailers available here) Fresh Guacamole Adam and Dog Head Over Heels The Longest Daycare Paperman My predictions: "Fresh Guacamole" should win. "Adam and Dog" will win. *(or "Head Over Heels")

Head Over Heels should win. Fresh Guacamole is awesome but there's not much to it. I'm scared that Paperman will win. I agree that "Head Over Heels" might have the advantage of its (ultimately) sentimental story, so it well might win. I, too, really hope "Paperman" doesn't win. Or just as bad would be "The Longest Daycare." Both production companies have shown us already that they know how to do this type of writing/characters/etc.

I, too, really hope "Paperman" doesn't win. Or just as bad would be "The Longest Daycare." Both Paperman and Longest Daycare (Paperman especially) were very good. I agree they were good. These entities are also showing us that they can still do the same thing they've been doing for the last squillion years (how many times have Disney productions used THAT particular style of woman??). So I was bored watching them and was only barely entertained. Keep in mind this opinion is from someone who has watched animation over a long period of time. Someone with a newer experience of animation is VERY likely to have a different opinion.

I'm sure it's probably not eligible for one reason or another (not least of which is the fact that I think it actually screened independently in 2011),... It was nominated last year. I thought it was a technically a very, very notable short, quite worthy of its nomination.

In 2014: I think: THE BIGGER PICTURE should win, but won't. THE DAM KEEPER might win, and I'll be glad if it does. I hope FEAST, yet another Disney/Pixar bravura “feel-good” yawn, does NOT win. I'll be surprised, but not entirely unhappy if ME AND MY MOULTON or A SINGLE LIFE (a surprising nomination, but work worth encouraging) win. BTW, it looks like these are available on iTunes and all those other places like it.

My vote goes to A SINGLE LIFE. Amusing, poignant, based on a good idea, and makes its "single" point and gets out, all in two minutes. I thought that ME AND MY MOULTON was very bright and fresh with clean-line animation, something I favor. I didn't think that the animation of THE BIGGER PICTURE added much to the story that a live-action short couldn't have communicated equally well. THE DAM KEEPER has a nice twist at the end, but the style of animation doesn't appeal to me. And I agree that FEAST is the least of this group.

My vote goes to A SINGLE LIFE. .... makes its "single" point and gets out, all in two minutes. Very much to its credit, I agree. I didn't think that the animation of THE BIGGER PICTURE added much to the story that a live-action short couldn't have communicated equally well. I still admired it trying an animation technique I'd never seen before.

I hope FEAST, yet another Disney/Pixar bravura “feel-good” yawn, does NOT win. There's no joy in Mudville....

http://www.shorts.tv/theoscarshorts/ Of the animation nominees, I'd like "Bear Story" or "We Can't Live Without Cosmos" to win. I really admired the work of (was surprised to see the name of) Richard Williams on the bill.

I hope FEAST, yet another Disney/Pixar bravura “feel-good” yawn, does NOT win. Disney/Pixar does it again this year, with a veneer of diversity, and the idea that doing things faster and faster is cooler and cooler.
